People that do this are willing to deal with manual labor of cash and alienate people that don't like to use cash in order to save a very small amount of money

It’s a fricking chicken place. Fast food. Bring cash you dweeb. You’re not buying a big screen TV. You’re paying < $20 for lunch.

Grow up and put some cash in your wallet.

I ate at a restaurant last week that put a 4% “convenience fee” on my ticket before bringing it to the table. I was paying cash so I asked the waitress why the fee was added? Also asked her since I was paying with cash who was going to get the $2.15? She looked like a deer in the headlights. I told her to tell her manager to take the fee off the ticket which they did but I just added it to the tip. It was not about the money, but it did piss me off that they just assume everyone is paying with a card.

No thanks.

Ever notice that the people that walk inside at gas stations to pay, are trashy?

There's a reason people don't like walking around with cash in their wallet.

Lol. That’s like saying grow up and get an analog telephone with a land-line. You’re advocating for outdated solutions in place of more efficient and beneficial alternatives.

Cash loses value. There is no way to gain interest with cash. Credit cards gain in interest in the form of points/rewards for every transaction. It’s on the consumer to find a card that either has no annual fee or the annual fee pays for a benefit that exceeds the cost of the annual fee (most hotel and airline cards).

This is why businesses give discounts for cash. They are passing along the benefit of not paying a transaction fee to the customer.

Paying cash is a sign of being an out of touch grandpa, or some old school power poser that likes to display cash. I honestly can think of no benefit whatsoever to using cash unless you love buying other people’s crap at garage sales or antique stores - those folks are penny pinching and don’t want to mess with electronic payment methods. They are in the business of unloading crap to people that overpay for it (this is what keeps them in business). So they want customers to feel like they got a good deal, and if it helps them keep their tax bill down, that’s a win too.

Most cards have an initial sign up bonus after using it for $x value in transactions during the first y months of opening the account. I’ve opened new card accounts, received and used the bonus, closed the account and moved on to other cards. Eventually I’ve gone back to former cards I previously used and re-opened a new account, receiving yet another new customer bonus.
