0.0, that's zero point zero

Denver is a complete disaster ATM. There are literally NO rental cars available.
A former teammate of mine has been on FB posting updates. She’s currently stranded with her two kids in Denver.
Her flight got delayed 12 times. Then finally cancelled. They were telling her she wasn’t able to get another flight for at least three days.
She was able to land a rental car and is driving the 1200-ish miles back. Crazy.

Yep. Was supposed to fly on southwest today and all flights were cancelled and they couldn’t tell us when we would be able to fly. Had to cancel our entire trip.

She’s not alone, either. Lots of folks having to rent cars one-way due to canceled flights.

Look man, I've spent the last two days in DIA. About 40% of the flight board today said cancelled and every single one of those was Southwest. It just pisses me off that everybody keeps claiming "weather" while the rest of the airline flights are leaving.

She's lucky she got one, we couldn't even find one to rent

Supposed to fly out of Nashville at 5am tomorrow on Southwest to Denver. What odds do you baws give me?
Just checked the arrivals board at KDEN and every single Southwest flight from any location into Denver between now and 7am mountain time tomorrow has been cancelled.

I understand your frustration, for sure. I’m having to call off work tomorrow because my two commuting flight options were canceled. That’s money directly out of my pocket. All I’m trying to convey is that there are a lot of pieces that work together to make an operation successful, and having an entire airport of ramp agents call off work can absolutely impact the operation days later.
Ramp agents don’t show up.
Planes divert while enroute.
Those pilots & flight crew are no longer available to work the remainder of their scheduled trip.
The plane they were on has to be ferried to another location, but not that one.
It really is a domino effect. There’s no sugar coating it, either. It’s a shite show & failure of epic proportions from Southwest. As you have mentioned, nobody else has been impacted this way. There should have been some foresight here, no doubt.
I hope it works out for you soon.

Get a flight thru another airline

Pretty much their entire schedule out of MSY tomorrow is cancelled too. Gonna be like that all over the country.
What a shite show. People in leadership roles should be fired for this.

Do they put the stranded up in a hotel or what?
Posted on 12/26/22 at 8:57 pm to idlewatcher
I would love to be a fly on the wall in the look forward, look back meetings after southwest works thru all of this shite. I’m sure their ops management are having some very intense meetings every day.

Thanks brother, Southwest told us they couldn't send us home until the 29th. We booked another airline and are on the way home now. It's just unreal to think, what if these people can't afford to switch planes, or pay for hotels, or take off of work that long, and Southwest is not providing any relief

I’m more optimistic than others for this one. They’ve been proactive the last couple of days in canceling in advance. Yours is still showing on time. Check it in the AM before you leave for the airport.

100%. We are fortunate that while insanely annoying, we could pay the $500 to get on a new United flight. A lot of people aren’t in that same position.
Like someone else said, I hate more government regulation but SW needs to hang for this. I hope they are forced to pay some sort of restitution to every single person affected.

I spent 12 hours in DIA on Christmas. I saw the writing on the wall and tried to rent a car to no avail. Ended up ubering back to Colorado Springs at 2 am and a cornholing of $300. Whatever, I got to go back to work today at my own understaffed shitty job serving others. Got my arse kicked and made $10 in tips all day. People calling out need to DIAF.

Buying some long dated put options on these guys. I’d imagine their Q4 numbers take a huge nose dive considering this week is this industry's biggest of the year.

wasted a day trying to fly SW today. Total shite show. The flight was delayed by 5 minutes every 5 minutes, this went on for hours. We would get texts every half hour or so apologizing and giving an expected departure that was 30 minutes in the past. Their website crashed and was down for most of the day. People were waiting in line for customer service for 5 hours. We finally got on the plane only to have the captain come on and tell us that he had just "timed out". We were asked to wait on the plane for another crew, only to be told an hour later that the flight was officially cancelled. Then it took an hour and a half to get our luggage. We could see it on the carts through the window for 45 minutes and nobody was doing anything. I'm on Delta Friday, SW has nothing until Saturday, and F em. Generally I've been pro SW but that changed today
Same thing happened to me except my luggage got sent to las Vegas while I'm stuck in Utah. I don't think I'll ever use southwest again.
