Noles 247 believes Cypress will visit LSU

It’s a pay site so I won’t post too much about what Noles247 reported but here’s a snippet
Obviously there’s a connection with Arcement and Weeks to Virginia
247 portal rankings: Cypress 4 overall; Harris at 3

My understanding is that Virginia CB transfer Fentrell Cypress entered the dead period with the notion that he’d take one more official visit: to LSU. Different sources had different reads on that development, with some thinking it was more of a courtesy visit and others having some concern given that LSU offers some of what FSU offers (chance to compete for a playoff spot, big-game environment, NIL opportunities once in school).

In 2022, Cypress notched 29 tackles and a fumble recovery. He led the ACC with 14 pass breakups and passes defended per game. The 1.56 passes defended per game were the fourth-most in the country. Cypress started all nine of the games in which he appeared and was credited with 39 tackles. He was named second-team All-ACC for his efforts.

Get him on campus and we have a damn good shot.

We should take him just to keep him from FSU. This game is gonna be a dog fight.

The current secondary scares the living shite out of me. You need everything to break right to be good.
Harris - off field issues
Banks - injury issues
Alexander - FCS to SEC
Welch - injury history plus inexperience
Then a bunch of true freshmen.
Would love Cypress to bridge a gap for one season.

We definitely need more DBs

Good point. It would be nice to have at least 1 guy that you can almost guarantee produces for you.
I do think that the Denver Harris off the field stuff is overblown, though.

FSU has been crushing the portal.

I believe so as well. My thought is if this kid visits and wants in, take him surely. That said, I'd save some spots for that post spring period. Gonna be some youngsters and vets that lose ground on the depth chart in the spring and some absolute studs are gonna be available.
Not sure of the new rules setup in terms of being eligible next year but I'd think as long as they're in before summer they should be good. Just wouldn't use all my space now.

Landing Cypress would be MASSIVE

Definitely a guy that would be huge for us to land. Getting the top two corners out of the portal would turn a weakness into a strength very quickly. Obviously still need depth but that can make things look a lot better.

There won’t be any concerns with space. We will have more guys leave or even get processed after Spring Practice, opening up additional roster spots. Every program will. We can keep taking up to the 85 man limit this year, so there’s no reason to leave more than 1 or 2 spots open now if there are players of the right quality available in the portal.
The only other concern is whether the staff wants to save an additional spot or two for potential recruits for NSD. But we can fill those spots in the Spring window if they go unused in recruiting.

This is true for everyone we go after. Hope we land him.

I like Yaites, I think he’s a future starting nickel for us.

Yaites has great technique for the corner position

I think it's a case of a kid who would live within guidelines at a place that wasn't giving guidelines out of fear of losing players.
At least I hope that is it.
