Dog freaked out by TV or was it a hoodoo ?

Last night about 11pm. We were watching the first lotus hotel series on HBO when our pit bull/Australian shepherd mix looked up at TV and went “ape shite” crazy. Basically every hair standing up, arched back and most vicious growls I have ever seen. He jumped on the bed and eventually back all the way to the headboard as I tried to come him down. I could tell he was shaking like a leaf in a thunderstorm, he even pissed on himself. I have never ever seen this dog scared of anything before but something set him off. We thought it maybe the drums or something in the show be he did it again on modern family episode he has seen before and didn’t do it today when we replayed that episode.
Anyone ever heard or seen anything like that before? It was like he was about to attack the air.
(He was a mutt my daughter got in college that we inherited, not a big fan of pit bulls, but he is one of the most intelligent dogs I have ever owned. Taught him half a dozen tricks in a few weeks, House trained, can walk without being tied up, doesn’t chase other dogs, listens to you etc. He does seem fascinated by TV. He definitely watches It and seems to get it. Really sweet animal, is scary looking but big baby.

My dogs woke up my daughter one night she was sleeping on the couch. She saw a large black wolf figure and chased it outside for it to disappear.
She knows not to chase demons outside now.

Likely saw a small child and became enraged with the urge to bite it but knew it couldn’t

Maybe the dog read your posts after UGA kicked LSU's arse in the SECCG?

How old is the dog? Could it be getting dementia or some type of small seizure?

Upvote for hoodoo. Trust your dog. It may be an electrical issue, idk. Dog tuned into something. We have a ratter dog, she's always right. We don't see, hear, smell, or feel it, but she does.

You were watching a tv show featured on HBO and your dog “freaked out” you go to message board to seek answers why your dog “freaked out” this has happened more then one occasion.

I have heard this can happen to dogs but zero experience with it and this house has a history of being haunted as two people died in it which wasn’t disclosed to me

I have two pit mixes. They don’t give AF about TV except when they see a commercial with a dog.

Tut, the dog is distressed for some reason. May be wifi frequencies, cell phone, tv sounds/vibrations, electrical, plumbing, termites, varmints, or something else.
We had a house where we saw a shadow figure at night (only a couple of times, but enough), the kids would not sleep in their rooms because of it. We thought it was sleep paralysis/night terrors. But sold the house, moved, all was good after. That was 20 years ago.

Could be a brain tumor causing behavioral changes or issues with the dog's vision causing the reaction.
Just beware of that possibility.
