Chaim Bloom is the worst GM in baseball. Maybe ever.

- Traded Mookie Betts for Alex Verdugo and prospects
- Traded Andrew Bennintendi for Franchy Cordero and prospects
- Traded Hunter Renfroe for Jackie Bradley Jr. Released mid season.
- Didn’t re-sign Kyle Schwarber (Led NL with 46 HRs)
- Didn’t trade or re-sign Xander Bogaerts. Got nothing in return.
- Signed Trevor Story to a 6 yr $140 million dollar deal(.238, 16 HR in 94 games)
How this guy remains a major league GM is beyond me. He is objectively a failure.

This feels like his last year at the helm. The deal for the Japanese OFer is absolutely baffling
I will say some of this (Betts, Bogaerts specifically) feels ownership driven also

Al Avila is pretty close. Look at what he got back for Verlander, JD Martinez, etc.

This is an anti-semitic attack

I think Yoshida will be a good player worth his $18 million AAV. Supposedly Cora forced that signing on Bloom, but that’s just what I’ve read on the Redsox boards.

We'll see. It doesn't line up with public scouting reports at least and "sources" (I know) inside front offices were stunned based on reporting after it. It sounds like most had him as a 4th OF type or maybe low end regular. No matter what offering Bogarts 6/160 or whatever and paying Yoshida effectively 5/105 seems interesting

None of his moves have made any sense. At this point I think he’s a double agent working for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Posts like this make me grateful for having a totally non-Jewish sounding name despite being Jewish.

Feels like some of this has to be on the ownership too.

I'd love to know what the mandate is from a budget standpoint. They make moves that for the most part line up with what a mid to small market team would do. When the splurges have happened (like Story) they didn't seem to make a ton of sense either though. Bloom can and probably will get fired but if they don't start spending like the Red Sox it's going to be a rough go. They have the worst 3-5 year outlook of any team in the AL East right now.

John Henry deserves some blame here, but he’s notoriously pretty hands off when it comes to letting his GM make the moves they want. To a fault this time.

I’ve been screaming this since they hired that dickhead from Tampa and he started gutting the roster. Chaim is the poster boy for what can go wrong when you’re way too dependent on analytics.

You haven't met The White Sox own, Rick Hahn. After a 4 year rebuild, he presents a thin team and the #30 farm. Doesn't know analytics, can't evaluate talent.

That’s not even the same sport

Chaim is the worst. He gets Biden level trade raped on every trade.

Why does putting the word “Jew” in front of any object make it sound a little anti-Semitic? There are several theories for how the jewfish (Promicrops itaiara), an Atlantic saltwater grouper with fins and scales, got its name. It may derive from the Italian “giupesce,” which means “bottom fish,” or may have originally been named “jawfish” for its large mouth. A less flattering theory is that in the 1800s, jewfish were declared inferior and only fit for Jews.
U a Grouper? Baw?

Also used this deal to dump David Price's salary. Weren't his hands kind of tied by ownership with Betts?
You're never going to get equal compensation for someone like Betts so attaching Price to that deal was an interesting idea.

Seems like Bloom's job to deflect most of the heat away from John Henry
