without him, we don't win more than 5 games

So, what makes everyone here think Daniels won't improve in the areas he is lacking?
quote:This is misleading. Burrow was making 2019 throws in 2018.
Daniels had a better season than Burrow did in 2018. Burrow made a nice leap in 2019.
This post just feels like you like JD more than the team.

Lol, it is highly dishonest to say he had a higher completion % than anyone. He only throws it 5-7 yards most attempts. When he throws it down the field he is highly inaccurate. I'm sorry man, but nuss is significantly more talented than JD. One will play on Sundays, one won't.

We're not in a position to win anything of significance right now, regardless.
I don't know why y'all are putting those sort of lofty goals on the team, especially for 2023 when we lose a TON of impact players on D (that we don't have lots of replacements for, right now).

Theoretically possible but he doesn't seem to have the brain to play QB yet. Way too reckless with the ball.
He threw multiple picks against Southern and should have had 2 with his first 2 passes against UGA. You can't win anything with that type of QB in modern CFB. You have a much better shot with a mobile game manager like JD.

They were up 25 points. You think defensive play calling stays the same up that big? It does not.
UGA knew lsu had to pass the ball to win. still couldn't stop nuss.

Daniels has 40+ games as starter, at this point he is pretty much at his ceiling. He is what he is.
Both can be true by the way. Daniels got us here and did amazing in a bridge year, but you are fooling yourself if you think he did that throwing the ball. He generally is a one read and scramble. He doesn’t see the field great and doesn’t give his receivers a chance deep. He does a great job protecting the ball, by throw low risk throws or only open throws. He is amazing vs sub par talent, but when talent equalizes, he struggles.

Why did you ignore his rushing stats? You know, which give him 500 more yards and 8 more TDs?
He took attempts in rushing and receiving away from players with better average yards per attempt. The top 4 running backs all averaged more yards per attempt than he did. You give some of these past qbs the extra attempts and their stats look much better but they distributed the ball like good QBs should.

Excellent analysis .

Even when you call your own number over and over. Lol

We are talking about his progression as a qb, making reads and throwing the football. If you want him to run so fricking much put him at RB. As a QB THROWING THE FOOTBALL, he has peaked. He peaked as a freshman.

Modern CFB is built on mobile QBs.

How many passing touchdowns against p5?

Then why waste an entire season of development for one of our younger QBs (Nuss or Howard) just to run JD out there that has shown minimal improvement in over 40 games starting as a passer?
If you aren't a championship team next year, then by default, you should be building towards 2024. Instead, you suggest wasting another year of their development, the WR and RB development for what?
Posted on 12/5/22 at 10:22 am to GeauxLSUGeaux
JD doesn’t have the arm talent that Nuss has for sure. But to just completely discount his legs and rushing stats is asinine.
Posted on 12/5/22 at 10:23 am to SlowFlowPro
This is true, but it also requires the QB to have the potential to pass downfield.
Also, it is why the NFL is becoming less and less talented at the QB position.

That’s great. The argument I’m making is that as a passer, he has peaked and there’s no reason to believe he will improve being that his best year throwing was his freshman season.

Did you have fun this year?
Were you happy that we won the West?
Feel better than you did about where we could be than a year ago?
That's why.
We are one bad year away from being where we were 365 days ago and having around 40 scholarship players.
I hope you never supported Orgeron b/c he the sole reason we're in this boat.

You’re just being obtuse.
Nuss showed that he should have been the guy all along - the Auburn, UF, and Bama games are probably much less close and we probably beat aTm.

I like Daniels, he's played well, but he had no where near as good of a season as any of those 3.
What a weak-arse job of cherry-picking. You left out all those guys’ interceptions (pretty sure all but JR in ‘06 had at least 10) and Jayden’s rushing yards. He literally lead the nation (or maybe finished 2nd) in yards rushing by a QB, yet you omitted it. For some reason you morons think 10 yards passing counts for more than 10 yards rushing. Or picking up a 3rd down rushing somehow counts for more the picking it up with a pass.
JD is not perfect, but frick you for either being a moron or, worse, intellectually dishonest.

I mean that depends.
For a title? likely, although UGA last year kind of disputes that.
But we're not in that tier right now, regardless.

The NFL is all about downfield passing.
The NFL is facing issues with Ds selling out to solely prevent downfield passing.
