Mel once explained the difference between a Comedy and a Tragedy.

Tragedy is when I open an envelope and get a paper cut under one of my finger nails and ow, ow, ow, it hurts so bad I just can't stand it.

Comedy, on the other hand, is when you are walking down the street and fall head first down a manhole and land in the sewer.

I just learned that Mel's Best Screenplay Oscar was presented by Frank Sinatra and Don Rickles

The 1st “morning after” with my now wife, I watched history of the world. When she sat and watched it all the way through without bitching I knew she was special.
