Taking the Islamic symbol off the flag and then making the statement shows the lack of awareness of context that surrounds this game and the stage of the World Cup.

The WORST part is that this was done without the consent of Berhalter and the team.

Needless to say, what’s going on in Iran is wrong and gender equality is a human right. Of course.

There are other, REAL ways of driving this progress in the Middle East. Woke Photoshop from an official foreign account that represents the US is not one of them.

The Iran Federation is making a formal appeal to FIFA to ban the U.S. for 10 games, reportedly. The Department of State said there was “no coordination” on the issue.

And worst off, the players and coaches are the ones affected most by the collateral of this virtue signaling.

Grant, Im on the side where everyone should be given equal civil liberties regardless of your sex, creed, etc. period. I couldnt think of being on the other side

I believe removing the Islam symbol from Iran flag without consulting the squad won’t fix the above. Tag me next time
