Thinking about purchasing one of the higher end durable dog kennels like Gunnar or Ruff.
Anyone have any recommendations on securing them to truck bed to avoid being stolen while hunting?

For the truck bed, definitely go Gunner. Safest option out there. There's $100 off all their kennels right now too.
The Gunner FB group has a lot of discussion on anti-theft options, everything from the Deny lock ($$$) to bike cables, etc. Gunner sells a locking plate or you can just attach to the tie down bar.

Gunner with the gunner straps

I have the ruff kennels. I have my kennels coupled together, and I run a cable lock through the drain holes on the back of one. They haven't been stolen yet.

Gunner straps are a given, to hold it in place, but won't prevent theft.

Pardon my question because I’m dumb when it comes to duck hunting. Wouldn’t a cheap dog carrier do the job and also prevent theft?

If the job is to protect your buddy in case of an accident, the answer is probably not.
crash tested

I have a ruff kennel and wish I would’ve gotten something similar sooner. I can’t comment on others but I’m satisfied with the one I have. I bought mine a year or so back when it was under a different name. It looks like they’ve added some features in the basic kennel that improves its daily use. I’m sure other brands are great as well.

The Gunner is the way, I’m a coonhunter and I’m going with a Gunner because of the safety and high crash tests they have. Plus they stay cool in the summer. I think they are rotomolded. Plus I like that I can take them out of the bed when I want to. There are some nice ways I seen how they mount them to the bed and there’s no way of stealing it.

What size kennel for a 55lb lab? Fit not fat.

Yep that’s what I’m going with, my Walker is about 62 lbs. intermediate would be the ticket.

Another vote for the Gunnar, money well spent. I use a python lock to prevent theft. Totaled my truck a year ago with the Gunnar and most importantly, my lab unscathed.

Truck bed, Gunner.
Stationary in house, Impact Crate. Anything else, Ruffland.
