What do you like better on a les paul?

Do you want to look like Slash or Jimmy Page?

Not so much about the look. I anchor my little finger on it.
With the shape of a Les Paul top, it helps feel more like a flat top, and that seems like a more natural playing position to me.

Fret Shack, are you familiar with a short-scaled guitar called the Hondo II? I paid $200 for one from a pawn shop when I was in high school and still wish I had the instrument.
This is what mine looked like:

Quite a few for sale on reverb.

Yes, Hondos were affordable MIJ copies of the popular American guitars of the day in the early to mid 80s, at least that's when I remember seeing them in some stores and magazine ads. Some are just a few upgrades and TLC strokes away from being nice value-minded substitutes.

yeah, I've got an old Hondo Little Suzy that I need to dig out and do some work on soon.

For that flame maple top, I vote no.

Pearly Gates - Yes
The rest, No.

The rest, No.

I like both, but I prefer the no guard look.
