Job is talking about relocating me to Lafayette or lake Charles.

Anyone live in either or know where which areas would be a good place to look for rent homes for now.

Out of the two I’d choose Lafayette. But LC isn’t bad Could definitely have worse cities to choose

I'd pick lafayette. But LC is growing and is closer to a major city and airport(houston).

Probably Lake Charles needs to move.

Lafayette seems to be in a bit more of a safe place.

Once you know the roads, you can get anywhere in Lake Charles in 10 minutes. Something to consider.

If you go with Lafayette just consider where you'll be commuting to/from versus where you live. Youngsville/Broussard has been blowing up for the last few years but traffic in that area can be a nightmare at times.

Are you single, or do you have a family?

Generally speaking, the closer you are to the river, the better. But, if you're single, you may want to look in the Saint streets for proximity to Downtown.

Lafayette must have an unwritten rule about building any overpasses. I live here and it is harder to get around than any other comparable size city I have been to.
Red light upon red light.
Remember if you move here that the northside is shitty. Southeast side is the best place.

I have a Fiancée with a 4 yr old.

I have a 22 year old son and 17 and 15 year old daughters that will visit and stay especially during the summer.

Youngsville is a great area for young kids IF you don't have to commute to downtown or middle of lafayette daily. Lafayette has some really nice areas depending on where you'll be commuting for work.

I loved growing up in LC. Much more laid back, easy access to Houston. Cost of living is lower and if you’re an outdoorsman much more to do

Laffy is closer to BR and NOLA and has more retail and restaurants, but also much more congestion

The best neighborhoods to live in Lafayette are West Bayou, River Ranch, East Bayou, Bendel Gardens, Fernewood, and Old Settlement (essentially all of the neighborhoods that border the river). Unfortunately, because those are the best, they won't have many rental homes in those neighborhoods.

Broadmoor is a step below those neighborhoods, but is still safe and may have some rentals.
