Driving apps detouring to 190. Looks like it’s at a standstill till Grosse Tette.

PORT ALLEN - A person was shot and killed by law enforcement after attacking and murdering a DOTD worker along I-10 Sunday morning. The attack happened shortly before noon near the LA 415 exit. The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said the suspect stabbed the victim, a Motorist Assistance Patrol worker, and was then shot by a responding deputy. Both the DOTD worker and the shot suspect died after the attack, according to the sheriff's office. Shortly after, an Addis police officer assisting at the chaotic scene was hit by a car. Deputies said he was "bumped" by the vehicle and not injured.
My God…terrible

Good lord. Stabbing a assist vehicle driver. For fricks sake. On 190 now and it’s a cluster. All surface streets are fricked.

Those MAP guys are incredible. I'm sure their biggest fear is being hit by a car, not stabbed by a shitbag.
RIP, sir.

It’s always a tragedy when an innocent person is murdered for no reason but it seems so much more tragic when it’s right before the holidays
May God Bless his family

Who stabs a MAP worker? Those guys are literally there to assist.
There has to be some backstory here.

I’m driving by it right now. There are still about 20 emergency vehicles on the side of I 10 westbound. Police tape is around an area. The entire interstate is shut down just west of exit 151.
Also, the rubbernecking on I 10 eastbound is backed up for 10 miles.

Darryl was a great man. He trained dogs to sniff out IED’s
He always had a clever saying in the morning to get you through the day and sharp joke to end it.

Doubt it. The MAP driver likely just came across a deranged piece of shite. It happens to cops going work traffic crashes all the time. The cop pulls up to help and one of the drivers pops out and opens fire.
A Louisiana State Trooper was killed near Lake Charles a few years ago in a similar situation. He saw a truck on the side of the road, stopped to help, as soon as he exited his patrol car, the driver stepped out and opened fire on him with a shotgun.

I hope they give him a hero's funeral similar to police or fire line of duty deaths. People do not realize how amazing and brave those MAP drivers are on a daily basis.

Stabbed in the face with a screwdriver so many times he was unrecognizable. My heart hurts over this one.
