Simsboro, La
28° with no wind to speak of
Boxstand on a pipeline with .270
Made it 1/2 way to my stand and realized I forgot my reading glasses in the truck had to turn around to go get them. Getting old sucks.
Had a nice 8 point on camera the past 2 days at 4:45 pm. Got beer, Redman, and snacks. Gonna sit all day if I have to.

One spike almost identified as antlerless earlier this morning. Glad I double checked before letting one rip

Decided not to hunt today before work. I can see my food plot out my back door. Had 4 yearlings and 2 mature does grazing at 7:30. No bucks yet during daylight but this cold weather is welcomed compared to 2021 hot weather

Climbed down for an hour between noon and 1pm to go eat a PB&J sandwich at the camp.

Saw 5 does and 2 spikes this morning.

Walked under a couple white oaks by the camp, don’t think I’ve ever seen so many acorns on the ground. Like walking on marbles.

I’m tucked away off the pipeline hunting over a scrape and a couple rubs. About to go to my box stand cause my arse is numb after sitting here an hour on the ground.

My Dad sent me a text at 5:15 saying he shot a doe. It was pretty dark, so I eased out of my stand. Then I heard a pack of yotes nearby, so I leaned against my stand looking at the pipeline waiting to see if they would cross. After about 2 minutes I decide to head to the 4 wheeler to help my Dad, when I turned around there was the biggest deer I’ve ever seen about 30 yards away. Sum bitch took off, and I stood there like an idiot. Not sure if it was a buck, but it was right next to where I had some Tinks. FML, but there’s always tomorrow.
