The Masters has it all—except its missing original pimento cheese recipe.

quote:

The greatest event in sports history is missing a vital recipe: that of its original pimento cheese sandwich. To be clear, it’s little more than peppered cheese on white bread, yet for its simplicity, it’s somehow an indelible figure in the Masters’ concession scene. “Pimento cheese has latched on in people’s memories,” says Michaux, “even though—I would swear to you—every other sandwich they have out there is better.”

I’ll never make it there but I’ve drooled since the late sixties hearing the oohs and ahhs about the cheapest and best go to for an event.

Wish I could get the original recipe.

I’ve been to The Masters three times, the first being 1996 when Greg Norman had an epic choke job. That sandwich is easily one of the worst items on the menu.

I went this past spring and the pimento cheese sandwich was very different than any other I've ever had. I don't want to say I didn't enjoy it, because I like it better than the egg salad sandwich, but it certainly wasn't my favorite thing on the menu.

I'll try it again next spring.

The sandwich is good, but I stand by that pimento cheese does not make an entire sandwich. It is a topping or dip and is far superior in that capacity.

They have some pimento cheese deviled eggs out there that are dynamite.

I always make it a point to go to Wifesaver when in the Augusta area, the pimento cheese there is outstanding, though I'll agree with those who contend its better as a dip or on a cracker. I have my pimento cheese recipe pretty close to Wifesaver's which apparently pretty close to the original.
