Wanted to share an interesting idea that my FIL (big Tiger fan) came up with when I was discussing Perkins with him.

He’s a gruff guy. Doesn’t say much. But today he goes: “He should play offense.”

I know, crazy right? Could he dominate as a back or tight end? Maybe even seal his chance to become the second defensive player ever to win a Heisman?

I’ll hang up and listen.

Nah. Let that kid continue to wreck QBs. We've got guys on offense that can get the job done.

Why risk injury or tire him out. has playing both ways is one thing, tough to do that at any other level. He’s an absolute stub LB and still learning the position.

Williams is too productive to risk injury to Perkins. Just let 40 get after the QB.

He was primarily a running back in high school and only played defense sparingly. He is a 4.45 sec 40 guy as well. He accounted for 1200yds, 18 rush TDs, 4 rec TDs and 18ypc as a running back his senior year of highschool. He would've likely been a 5 star RB as well.

Your FIL is a dumb frick

ETA: you don’t ask one of the best defensive players in the nation to play offense too. We don’t really need help anywhere on offense he could even contribute

You're a dumb frick as well. The kid would be a 5 star top of the league RB, it's just not worth the risk or mileage to play him at both positions, we don't need more RBs.

I feel like he’s gonna project a LB and have a better NFL career there. He’s literally on everyone’s radar as a frosh. If he keeps this up with his closing ability and awareness, he’s top 5 pick. RB in the NFL are not valued like a stud LB like he is. Keep him where he is and healthy. But for gods sake keep him on the field…ala Tenn game. He’s a game changer with 2 more years of tormenting QBs left. Dude closed on a track star QB like he was jogging.

He's too valuable on defense to move. But yes, he'd be a terrific running back as well.

For Heisman purposes, yes. Otherwise, let him specialize in eating QB's.

What does that do for Perkins? He can make the most money by being the 1st pick in the draft at LB. The pros aren't interested in how he plays offense.
