Epiphany after looking back on what made me successful with some girls and others not

One sentence. There's nothing on the line. Easier said than done, but I know when my personality is that there's nothing on the line, I'm lightyears more successful than when I'm not.
Maybe confidence ties into that, maybe it's a completely different concept. I wouldn't focus too much on confidence because that almost implies a fakeness if you're not feeling it that day and really who can be super confident all the time when life is just fricking hard.
Women are extremely aware when you're feeling any kind of negative emotion especially anxiety even if you yourself don't notice it. I think it's a protection mechanism for themselves. They're already extremely anxious themselves.
That'd be my advice to guys after 3 decades on this planet. Doesn't mean don't be nice or a good person, just... there's nothing on the line.

If you truly believe that there is nothing on the line, it works. It’s kind of a hard thing to fake, until you’ve rolled the dice enough to become desensitized, and that also has its drawbacks.

Eh, there’s no reason to be shitty. Act with as much affection and attention as you are naturally inclined to. Just also act (or know, even better) that you’ll be fine regardless of their actions.

As you get older, you learn more and more that confidence that only comes with a combination of experience and a general lack of interest attracts women. Unfortunately, you usually are married with kids, a receding hairline, and a pot belly by the time this stage of your life hits.

The good news is if you're relatively stable, some woman will see you as a good catch in spite of all that. Pickings get slim for women on the downslope of a certain age.

A good bit of confidence is also about casting a wide net. Lacking confidence you may talk to half or less or the women you otherwise would, hell sometimes it may be 10% of the girls you would with confidence.
Just starting a conversation with that many more women and being confident will catch some.
