I wanted to pick y'all's brain a few minutes. Wife and I debating taking our two boys (10, 8) on a vacation instead of going house to house for Thanksgiving. We live in Louisiana near Hammond. I'm not certain on what would be a fun little get away for this time if year within 8 hours of here. Would be a Wednesday - Saturday or Sunday depending on time to travel. Do y'all have any suggestions? We aren't looking to fly but to drive. And hopefully not break the bank before Christmas so no major theme parks

Hiking in Arkansas. Very affordable. Mt. Nero, Petit Jean State Park and Mount Magazine are all about 30 minutes from each other.

Many go to the Alabama/Florida beach towns for the holidays. Orange Beach, Destin, etc.

Austin, TX. If you are looking for something closer and cheaper maybe like Ocean Springs, MS by Biloxi.

San Antonio. Nashville. Smokies.

Or ditch the car and get on a plane and head to Vegas. Insane deals Tgiving week. Tons of shows. Wife will love the Black Friday deals. Day trip to Grand Canyon or Red Rock canyon. OR Drive up into southern Utah and hit up Zion and Bryce Canyon NPs.
