Looks like BK is fixing my biggest complaints about recruiting under Miles and O

Both Miles and Orgeron wer \e great recruiters, but I always had the same two bitches about their recruiting classes:
First, neither recruited elite OL. Under both of those guys, we would have Top-5 or -10 recruiting classes with 6 DBs and 7 WRs, but weak OL. Also, while we got some name QBs (mostly in state), we never got the really ELITE national QBS. Kelly is fixing this. His first OL haul was pretty good with two freshman staring and playing at all-SEC levels. Looks like the second/third classes will be Top-5 AND will have great OL and great QB recruits. Fix #1.
Second, Miles and O did not really get the HUGE early commits for outlying years. Both of them did identify potentially great future recruits and sometimes got them. But they were not as productive as many elite recruiting teams with respect to the "2 to 3 years away but already identified as a 5 star" young men. Kelly seems to have the ball rolling for both present and future years. Fix #2.
All good signs for the future of LSU football.

I agree with this post, but you have to admit Kelly did get lucky with 2 great homegrown tackles in his first class. nonetheless, luck notwithstanding, he is doing a great job of recruiting the oline. this has always been our weakness. some years we were fortunate to have enough quality guys, but those years didn't seem to roll around often enough.

Miles couldn’t lock down those boys his last 5 years here. They started making “business decisions”.

BK's decision to retain Brad Davis is directly correlated to this

beat me to this...Yep...we have top OL recruits pretty often in the state.
Previous HC's couldn't keep them in LA.

I think CBK is smart enough to market the “luck of homegrown” and sell that to the out of towners moving forward— “see the accolades and press our freshmen are getting? That can be you”

Kelly always had really good OLs at ND. Skill positions left some to be desired, even if he did get a few good ones here and there like Chase Claypool and Miles Boykin. I'm not sure if it was him or Notre Dame's standards. After all OL are on average smarter and make better grades than skill guys so probably easier to get high end OL than skill players to ND. Could also be that the midwest is better known for OL recruits in general.
Might be another reason he came to LSU after seeing all the WRs and DBs we've put into the NFL. If he can continue to field solid OLs he's always had to complement the bounty of skill guys that Louisiana consistently puts out as well as having a decent pipeline in TX, it fills the missing ingredient that kept him from reaching the mountaintop at ND.

You mean the ones that normally went to BAMA in previous years?

I expected BK to improve OL recruitment, but I assumed he’d bring in some corn fed midwesterners. Interesting to see he(and Brad Davis) can get it done with Louisiana kids. Campbell and Jones already look like 2 future first rounders.

BK recruited some elite skill guys; only position he never did great with is QB
ND always had mid QBs while he was there.

Have to figure with NIL money, staying home is a new business decision.

I may be reaching here, but I could definitely see it being easier to get higher academic Olineman (NDs standards) than skill players

This always puzzled me given Les being a former OL.

Don't start the Kelly parade too soon...Miles and O have National Championships..Say what you want about them but they won titles.
