Well currently you won’t get a competent republican elected in that city or any republican. And most likely won’t get a democrat unless they are a progressive.

There are lots of intelligent, professional, motivated, and above-the-bullshite politics fray, black women. Why New Orleans and BR chose those two idiots is beyond me. If you have to tick a box, got damn, pick a black woman that can actually navigate the waters.

Didn’t he die right after the election was over? He would’ve accomplished more than Broom has done one week on the job.

Yep. Terrible situation and what made it worse is because J Bel is a D he was untouchable.

Imagine the national coverage had the Governor's office been occupied by a Republican during this fiasco.

Because no professional/competent folks want to wade into the political cesspool of South Louisiana...and I can't blame them.

And the republican got a text the night of the incident from a state police commander....then spent a year denying that he knew anything about it.

As long as the mob holds voting power you can expect more of the same. This is exactly why the founders never wanted to grant voting to everybody, because they knew it would devolve into ignorant mob vote. It's how democracy fails and it's just a precursor to how the country as a whole will fail. You can't stop it without drastic means so you might as well sit back (preferably moved to somewhere still salvageable) and watch the fireworks.

He could probably get more accomplished right now, even being dead, than Broome did her entire time in office.

He allowed them to put that WalMarks on College. I think that was about it, other than probably being the last white person to ever be mayor here.

BR Business Report and the Advocate are not great sources for anything.

I still don't understand how or why that happened. What was the reasoning? I just remember reading Rolfe's bullshite the day he gave his endorsement and being like "What?!"

I then unsubscribed from the Daily Report and have probably read like 3-4 stories from them, likely under protest, since.

What was the story there? Rolfe's weird white guilt?
