I’m with you. I received a nice raise this pass April but it doesn’t feel like it. On top of inflation, I have 3 young kids in daycare which I’m paying $2k a month and 2 kids in therapy which is an extra $600 a month AFTER insurance. We’re barely getting by but it’s not enough to put money away.

It's called EBT, SNAP, etc...
There should be restrictions on what they can buy/get for free. They load up their baskets with junk food. Chips, cookies, Hot Pockets, flavored drinks, etc..

It's infuriating when standing in line behind them with their long, manicured nails and their Michael Kors purses using their EBT /SNAP cards. They should only be able to use their government assistance cards for basic necessities. Milk, fruits, veggies, meat, etc... you know, the healthy stuff.

Same boat here. Wife and I both got very good raises. Least amt of buying power ever.

Same here. Our combined raises were almost 20,000, and we go in the hole every month. Thanks Biden.

At age 64 all of these posts are causing me to question my upcoming retirement. If I don’t retire by the end of 2022 my lump sum pension payout is reduced by nearly $100k. The wife will work two more years to reach 62 so with her income, my social security and retirement savings we’re probably ok for at least the next 3-4 years…it’s what happens when she retires and inflation is still over 6% that has me concerned.

Im sure groceries and fuel is kicking my butt, but we just started private school x 2, and that’s hurting worse.

None of you actually received a raise. It's nothing more than companies knowing that you need COLA to literally keep coming to work with inflation being so high. You needed at least a 10-12% pay increase just to not lose money month over month.

Cancer sucks even worse than Joe Biden

Fact.

Are y'all seeing anyone at a designated cancer center?

Non small cell lung cancer.
We went to UT Southwestern the first time around and MD Anderson when it came back after the first chemo/radiation/immunotherapy course. Both agreed with the care she was being given at Texas Oncology.
It was pretty advanced when we got the prognosis.

At both campuses I was amazed at the sheer size of them, the billions of dollars flowing through them.. I realized there would never be a real cure for cancer. Just a neverending search for the next very expensive treatment to prolong the lives of the patients.
It's a very lucrative market and those doctors are very comfortable there, thinking they're doing all the good while their Big Pharma sponsors direct the direction of research.
Mentioning antiparasitics like fenbendazol makes them very uncomfortable.

Sorry.. wasn't trying to highjack the thread. The economy is a shite show and dealing with my wife's cancer and impending death is.. overwhelming sometimes. Can't vent at home, her plate is full.

And they still have the fricking nerve to ask for reparations.

Same. Our raises do not cover inflation.

staying at a company while getting annual raises used to be a viable option. Now it's almost required to hop every few years for that bigger raise just to keep up with inflation.

The best way to beat inflation is to get out of DEBT. Your DEBT is the only
thing you really have control over.

boy do you have it wrong... middle class actually gets screwed by both parties...

Republicans put corporations before people (think all insurance, big pharma etc) and dems tax the shite out of us... we get fricked from both.

but don't sit there and think republicans are on our side, because they aren't... small businesses should be protected but frick major corporations... yall need to learn the definition of corporatism. cause thats whats really going on... public private partnerships... that's what the World Economic forum is and how theyre consolidating power.... yall are so fricking lost...

But I don’t have any extra money thanks to inflation. I have heard this from so many people. Happy about their salary raises but spending over a hundred dollars after every trip to Home Depot, grocery store, etc

Remember when people were getting what they thought were free government stimulus checks last year?
Now we are paying for them.

Basically, Corporations are using increasing costs of materials, components and labor as excuses to increase their prices even higher, resulting in bigger profits.

1 of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.

If the costs of goods / materials / labor goes up and the corps don’t increase the price, the only other option would be to lay off a huge percentage of their workforce. During extreme inflation and shite housing market and economy. You do realize this right?

And if this “administration” really gave a frick about inflation, they would have changed their tune on the oil and gas industry and wouldn’t be sending billions and billions of taxpayer $$$ to fricking Ukraine… all while bacon costs us $15 and the average family home is unaffordable for the average family.
