Football wise - meh. He's bigger but without any more or even the same burst.
Thanks to CBK's program he has learned how to perform in life: got the body rehabbed and got eligible with his grades. Those couldn't have been easy but he accomplished both.
I hope he will graduate and move on with his life.

ETA: If he's got another year then OK, I guess. CBK won't hang him out to dry.

2021 was a suspension so can't be used as a redshirt year.

This is not a rule. You have 5 years to play 4 (plus your covid year). There are no academic or disciplinary restrictions.

This is an oft repeated falsehood.

I think it’s time everyone just comes to terms with he may have been a 5 star in high school but now he’s been clearly beaten out by a former walk-on and Armoni Goodwin. He needs to figure out what’s next in life after football because this year is it for him.

He will have plenty of opportunities to continue playing college football, even if it’s not at LSU - if he chooses.

Why do “we” need to do anything? It’s his life and he’s Kelly’s player. Let them figure it out.

I agree. I know Brian Kelly won't give up on him. He just hasn't played much Football from being out all that time. Another year of coaching and grooming under coach Frank will do him justice imo.

Perhaps you are correct. But it does not appear that LSU or emery has applied for a redshirt to Emery for 2021. Can they or he apply for one now for 2021? Or have they and Maybe I just have not heard?

You don’t “apply” for a redshirt. You have 5 years to play 4. Period. LSU’s compliance office determines your eligibility. They can appeal to the NCAA if there are questionable situations.

You can’t go by the class listing on the roster. Many of them are incorrect.

we are kind of stacked in terms of numbers at RB next year. i think we would prefer if he left and replace him with a veteran elite guy from the transfer portal. if we’re keeping a vet, let’s get an elite one. Emery has shown by now that he’s not that. I don’t care what his HS ranking was.

If he wants to stay though and behind the scenes is a leader, etc, I’m down with it.

That's what I was going by and why I wasn't very sure. I assume there is a requirement to let the NCAA know a redshirt season was taken but I can't find anything related to that.

I wish they had a place where you could look that up.

I hope Emery comes back and I think he has tremendous potential if he can finally put it together.
