Not very often does BR get a legendary band like this. Laur Joamets (formerly of sturgill simpsons band) and Sadler vaden (isbells’ 400 unit) are both playing with DNC.

If you’re a fan of southern rock/rock and roll, this is a great band to catch.

Shouldn't they be retired by now? Those dudes while good back in the late 80's early 90s have got to be ancient now.

I think Kevin Kenney (sp?) the lead singer is the only original member. He is fat and old but his lead guitar player who played with Sturgill is awesome.

Saw them a month or so ago up here in NJ, the bass player was brand new filling in for someone so they weren't able to play all the songs but still a great show

1. Drivin n cryin played here barely a year ago, if that.

2. That’s a good get for the Varsity who basically hasn’t been booking any shows lately.

3. I, and every other musician I know, already has a show that night.

I don’t know if they just put way more money into it, but no other venues seem to publicize anything.

It was a fantastic show, at the Manship’s side theatre. Smaller room but very well attended… and was loud!

Glad to see the Varsity has a show this weekend. Will probably go check it out

Much preferred the Buren Fowler years... they fall off a cliff after that, though Kinney is a talented songwriter...

There was a time when they played in BR 2/3 times a year it seemed...

To me that band had a time and a place (good memories) and it isn't 2023..

They should really be playing a smaller venue to heighten the atmosphere, but alas that doesn't really exist in BR unless you want to sit on couches or bring your own beer.

It's going feel a bit stale on a Halloween Saturday when 150 people show up in an 800+ person room on a non Gameday.

Agreed. Mid City Ballroom would be perfect for Saturday.

Chelsea's would have been a better venue but here we are.

another BYOB venue. I like MCB but it's just a weird spot with a terrible parking situation.

isn't Chelsea's 600 capacity?
BR could use a Gasa Gasa type room.

it is, but 600 in that room is STUFFED.

it's a way more intimate vibe than varsity because of the varsity having the upstairs and the roof being so high.

chelsea's might be the best smaller venue on the gulf coast and probably a top 30 smaller venue in the country when it comes to sound, vibe, and amenities.

I would hope so when you opening a venue in 2022 and have good bones, money and leadership. Looks a little sterile from photos, but I'm sure they have nice dressing rooms, a good stage, bar etc. Plus, it takes time to build character like the Earl in ATL, Gasa Gasa or that place in B'ham that's been around forever. BR is lucky to have it really.
