Put those guys on ND’d roster during the same time period. Do you honestly believe they still accomplish everything you listed?

Every one of the guys were high 4-star recruits except for Coker and McElroy. McElroy signed before Saban got there.
Sims made 2nd team ALL-SEC.
Coker (transfer) won a National Championship as a starter.
McCarron was 2-time All SEC, won the Maxwell, and 2 Natty.
McElroy played well enough to win a title.
The point is, when looking at this list no-one stands out as THE dude. None of these guys made much of any noise at the next level. Pretty easy to see these guys were sufficient college Qb's via the 5 star talent completely surrounding them.

This was my top concern for him as a coach. The results are not good at all

Remind me again what Kelly brings to the defense to make up for his deficiencies on offense?

Wait a minute….Sean Payton told us Ian Book was a great quality QB??? WTH?

Did Kelly ever developed a kid into a top tier QB during his 12 years at ND?
All system QB's that got their asses reamed on the field if they didn't follow the company line or perform to Kelly's expectations.
You can imagine a guy like Burrow never seeing the light of day in Kelly's system because Joe wasn't the " Athlete " QB that Kelly prefers.

Joe was/is a hell of an athlete and would excel in this system.
Unless you mean something else by “athlete”

He didn't do well with Gunner "no chest" Keil.

Well I’m confused why you don’t consider the number 8 dual threat qb by recruiting sites and an all Ohio basketball player an athlete?

quote:It's not that. They go after the same QBs as everybody else, but why would a star QB go there if they almost never have good WRs and run a basic spread attack? And it's not like they were awful at QB.
Kelly never had a good QB at Notre Dame..the last good one he had was Tony Pike at Cincy. His QB recruiting and evaluation is...questionable
2013 Tommy Rees 3257 yards 27 TD 13 int
2014 Everett Golson 3446 yards 29 TD 14 int, 280 rush yards 7 TDs
2015 Deshone Kizer 2800 yards 21 TD 10 int, 525 rush yards 10 TD
2016 Deshone Kizer 2925 pass yards 26 TD 9 int, 472 rush yards 8 TD
2018 Ian Book (9.5 games) 2626 yards 19 TD 7 int, 280 rush yards 4 TD
2019 Ian Book 3034 yards 34 TD 6 int, 546 rush yards 4 TD
2020 Ian Book 2830 yards 15 TD 3 int, 490 rush yards 9 TD
2021 Jack Coan 3150 yards 25 TD 7 int
They ain't the best, they ain't the worst, but damn KIzer with these WRs would have put on a show. Even Ian Book.

In Book's 13 game 3040 pass yards 34 TD (550 on the ground and 4 TDs on op of that) season he had Chase Claypool at WR, and that's it. Nobody else was drafted at WR. In McCarron's 14 game 2011 30 TD pass season he had 3 WRs eventually drafted from that group, with one being Amari Cooper. Book only had a RB that ran for 860 yards (who also went undrafted). No other RB ran for 200. In that AJ McCarron season, he had Trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy, and Jalston Fowler. Two of the 3 got drafted in the top 2 rounds and the 3rd was drafted in the 4th round.
I could do the same for others, but why bother?
