Did Kelly ever developed a kid into a top tier QB during his 12 years at ND?

If so, who?

If he hasn't... what makes you think he will do it here at LSU with Walker Howard?

he never had a stud qb at notre dame. Mostly just game managers- which is what he likes in JD

Kelly never had a good QB at Notre Dame..the last good one he had was Tony Pike at Cincy. His QB recruiting and evaluation is...questionable

Not really
But he always had a decent run game

LSU needs a stud rb if they running this offense
No one takes the running game seriously and wouldn’t have with Brennan either

Kizer would/should have been that guy had he stayed another year. Leaving school after a redshirt sophomore year was insane

Kizer was a pretty high pick…1st or 2nd round

Ian Book was decent. Also got drafted

He might have been recruited by Weiss but Kizer played under Kelly

Glad we’re asking these questions after we gave him a $100M contract. Seems like something Woodward should’ve looked into. Guy fricking sucks at hiring football coaches

Just to underscore how misguided an idea this is, let’s list out Saban’s QB prior to Hurts/Tua:

Blake Barnett
Cooper Bateman
Jake Cocker
Blake Sims
AJ McCarron
Greg McElroy

You also have to consider Denbrock, when asking this question. Denbrock signed Ridder, who turned out to be a very good Qb. He also signed Evan Prater, who was a highly rated Qb, in 2020. In the long run, LSU is going to be fine, imo.

I'm confused... whats your of point?
Every one of the guys were high 4-star recruits except for Coker and McElroy. McElroy signed before Saban got there.

Sims made 2nd team ALL-SEC.
Coker (transfer) won a National Championship as a starter.
McCarron was 2-time All SEC, won the Maxwell, and 2 Natty.
McElroy played well enough to win a title.
