Heupel took over a Tennessee program that was an absolute train wreak. They were worse off than Ed left LSU and Heupel has them looking good in his 2nd yr. That is the standard in the age of the portal. This give him 3 or 4 years to rebuild b/c look at Saban talk is BS.

I don’t think people realize the train wreck Ed left. UT was in bad shape too but they are comparable. Toxic culture being the worst thing of all.

Tennessee's offensive system is light years ahead of any scheme Kelly has ever run.

Tenn has a good team. Were they down to 39 scholarship kids in a bowl game? I don’t know, but they are better than we are now.

Next week is a defining game for them. Let’s see if they are there yet.

I agree.

You don’t pay give a coach a $100 million contract and not make him produce for 3 years.

Fully agree with you. Heupel is suppose to be a budget coach who isn't suppose to be successful yet he's outclassing high paid SEC coaches. Same with Stoops at Kentucky.

LSU's resources piss all over Tenn. The expectation for us next season should be what Tenn has assuming they can find a QB in the portal. There should be no shortage of good unhappy QBs for whatever reason in the portal. Unhappy because they play for a bad team and they're the best player. Who knows. At any rate, BK better have this team competing for the SEC next year not necessarily playoffs but making a hard run through the SEC. This team is not THAT untalented in certain position groups. It really only takes a few strategic and good transfer portal moves to transform this team. Mainly QB and get a few OL with possibly a TE. The offense should be completely night and day different. Possibly a RB to add too.

There's no excuse for a 10 million+ coach per year to find anything but a way to figure it out. Now is the time to strike hot too with the change to the rules temporarily. LSU can sign 50 players this class if they want with no consequences as long as they stay under the 85 man. He has no excuse to have a full rebuild extend past 1 year. This is not the old NCAA.

7-5 this year is acceptable, then? (I think it is)

Tennessee losses last year.

Pitt 41-34
Florida 38-14
Ole Miss 31-26
Alabama 52-24
Georgia 41-17

bullshite. They were no worse off than we were roster-wise. That’s a myth. People thought it would be worse because the NCAA would hammer them over Pruitt, but that didn’t happen. And with the advent of the portal, it’s obviously a lot easier to turn over a roster.

The only reason that UT and OM hit ahead of schedule in year two of rebuilds is because of misevaluated QBs that others didn’t appreciate. Hooker was a passed over backup at VA Tech that Heupel backed into and didn’t even start initially and Corral was stupidly passed over by OM’s previous staff. Without them, both teams are just average to slightly above and on a more typical rebuild curve. A great QB can elevate a team that much.

We obviously tried to hit on a portal QB and struck out. But a guy like Hooker wasn’t out there for us this year. Williams and Ewers were never a possibility here and Dart hasn’t been amazing at OM either. Hitting on the right QB is the only way to skip forward in a rebuild like this.

Well young Josh has a function offense. Dough boy Scotty brought us a expensive Dino who then hired his Dino pal to give us a Stone Age offense.

Nope, UT's recruiting under their former coach, Jeremy Pruitt, was very good. Heupel took over a program with talent. BK took over a program with 39 scholarship players.

It's not close to the same situation. How long did it take UT to get to this point? 20 years?

Did you look at the talent differential on the field yesterday? I am not a big BK fan, but he took over a disaster caused by Ed O. Let's see what he can do.

No, no they werent. We had 39 scholly players and a WR @ starting qb before we hired Kelly. Not to mention a culture of straight arse. Attitudes of me first, dont give a frick, no accountability had completely taken over.

They were not worse off than LSU. People dont realize what was left by O.

LSU fans have to much pride to admit CEO left us in bad shape. We still see ourselves as National Champs, but we’re in full rebuilding mode. We need to trust the process CBK is implementing.

What ?! Is the season over and I missed it? So now Tennessee is the flavor of the week? And what if they end up losing 3 games? What if after their QB leaves they drop back to 6-6? You guys absolutely amuse me.

Ok fair enough. So 7-6 is good enough for Kelley’s first year. Still very doable. So why all the melt downs on here?

Ok well let’s also see how Heupel does next year. Lots of coaches can look good with a 6th year quarterback. Look what Orgeron did in one year with burrow and Orgeron obviously wasn’t the answer.

We are trying to rebuild our brand. It’s about a lot more than one year.
