Only because I can't read any more crap about how's it 1998 all over again, I thought I ask if anyone else noticed just how shitty the turf was on Saturday?

I normally get into the stadium as soon as they start letting people in, and I commented to the guy next to me that the field was coming up all over underneath the feet of players warming up. What struck me as odd about this is that the field has been unused for a damn month. And once the game started, the field was being churned up like it was a vacant lot. Hell...it almost did what our D Line was unable to do all day, and that's sack Stafford at about the 20 yard line in the North Endzone. He even went back and REPLACED the giant divot he caused when the grass came out from under him!

Did anyone else notice this? Didn't they replace the turf AGAIN prior to this season? Why in holy hell can we not grow grass in south Louisiana?

P.S. It's not 1998...settle the frick down.

I did notice the turf was pretty shitty. A lot of players were slipping on it.

I had sex on the tiger stadium turf in 1999 before the florida game...I wonder if that has something to do with it?

I thought when the field was re-sodded that it was going to be better and the drainage was improved also. I thought they said that the grass was to be superior and more hardy. So what happened?

It will be. If you remember, they chemically killed the entire field over the summer. It won't be until next year when the grass will be fully rooted.

we have had the worst turf in the SEC for years.
We just can't get it right. This year is all new turf and it looks terrible. By the time the Ole Miss game comes around we may be playing on painted dirt.
Truly pathetic.

It's been resodded twice since 2006 too.

Once before the 2006 season...and again before this season.

I say we bring in the fire hoses and drench the field and make the game a mudder. That might be the best way to slow the opponents offenses down for our deffense.

Best solution for the defense I've heard so far.

Don't blame the turf, blame the sand.

Joe Dean could have put a foot of sand under the turf which would have been awesome. Instead he put only 6 inches of sand. Guess that proves that 6 inches does matter.

Also Joe Dean did NOT do the drainage system to drain directly into the river, but let it drain into the school's system.

Until extra inches of sand and direct drain to river is done...painted dirt

One of my all time peeves with the LSU Athletic department. They can't grow a GD decent looking turf in Tiger Stadium. That's not a recent thing either, it's historical.

I thought they brought in a turf guy from Mississippi State to take care of the field, so wtf happened? There's no excuses. Email Ronnie Haliburton in the AD to get the straight poop on what the problem is again this year. Hey, if they can't it right, just rip the shite out and put in field turf like Ole Miss. That would be preferable to having a field that looks worse than most high school fields.

It's just plain and simple negligence, incompetence and mis-management in that area.......

I don't understand why it looks like crap. Like you said its been completely resoded twice in the last 2 years, and we hadn't played a home game since MSU a month ago. I don't live in BR, did it rain that much last week that field should have been that bad?

Seriously, I hate field turf, but if the grounds crew cannot do a better job (or we can't find someome to put in a quality field and drainage system), I would rather go to that then continue to see our field look like crap year in and year out.

Maybe they need to use the "tradition fund" fees to bring the field into the 21st Century.

we have the worst field in the SEC, not sure why we spend all this money and the turf still looks equally as dead.

I was there and I noticed the turf too. Every time someone got tackled it looked like they were playing in a sand box...
