Watching ep 1 and am really enjoying it… the atmosphere seems spot on and like the new take on the material. Was surprised I didn’t find a thread already started…thoughts?

Let me guess... One of the main characters is black, Hispanic and/or LGBTQ?

I’ve read the source novel and I’ve seen the movie with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. While the series did race swap several characters and change the time period, the gay subtext, which was omitted from the film, is taken directly from the novel. I’m not sure how I feel about the show yet, but they did get the feel of NOLA right and Sam Reid is a much better Lestat than Tom Cruise was.

You probably didn't find a thread on it because it was discussed earlier on basis of the trailer. and many (like myself) aren't going to waste time on yet another thing that is a "reinvention" of an established, almost classic work.

Lazy-arse modern writers no longer come up with original ideas or content, they just use previous works and "reinvent" them in any way possible, changing genders, race, time periods and even major plotlines to fit their agenda. They are backed by producers who know that established works that sold in the past will sell again.

Just a few other examples off the top of my head:

EVERY FRICKIN' DISNEY 'LIVE ACTION' MOVIE REBOOT
The Mosquito Coast
The Equalizer
SWAT
The FBI
Quantum Leap
Magnum P.I.
Kung Fu
Walker
Riverdale

And I (and many others) want no part of this garbage.

Now, get off my lawn!

Didn't know anything about it, but with this right here...I'm 100% out.

Read all the Rice novels years ago and loved them for what they were. either make the source material, or make something new.

I was wondering if someone was going to start a thread about this. I watched TWD and it came on afterwards.

I think it reached peak clown world with the floating naked gay vampires. I'm sure many on this board will love it, though.

I think it's one of Tom Cruise's most underrated roles. He acted circles around Brad Pitt's boring arse

I love Cruise as an actor, but he was HORRIBLY miscast as Lestat. There's a reason Anne Rice was pissed at that production. Pitt as Louis was much more on point.

The first episode 1 shockingly good and I’m looking forward to this series.

I think the only people weirded out by this are those who have never read Ann Rice

I'm not sure if I'm more sick of vampires or superheros at this point. When does it end? I'm going The Lair Of The White Worm or Near Dark if the vampire urge hits me. Two 80's classics.
