I know we were all super excited about our DL coming into this season and then Maason Smith goes down week 1. BJ Ojulari is playing amazing as expected but where has Ali Gaye been? I have been waiting on him to make some impact plays.

I don't think he got the memo that he only had to miss the 1st half of the Southern game for the targeting ejection...

Have to agree. While we are critiquing, what is the Board’s opinion of J. Roy’s performance thus far? I’ll admit that I don’t watch the interior guys nearly as much so he may be quietly doing a good job. But I feel like I haven’t seen as much disruption or heard his name called as much as I thought I would.

The program has been shite, and partially because of underperforming players like Gay.

I made the same case last year and before start f this season. Outside containment was horrible. BJ has been better this year but when slides inside we have had some LBs loose the containment. Gaye has always been lost unless play just runs into him. Savion has been so much more productive and a lot more disciplined. Noticed Auburn game they split the reps. Hopefully he will start getting more and more each week

Haven’t read the thread, but agree with the premise that he doesn’t get home as much as we expected him to when he first got here. However, he’s big and strong as frick, and we are VERY thin on the interior line after losing Maason Smith. Thank God for Wingo. But Guillory’s only giving us about 15 plays a game, and according to Kelly, J Roy played his 1st game healthy last week against Auburn. So we have only 3 guys listed as interior DL giving us ANY snaps, and and Guillory’s not giving many. So House has been using Gaye’s size to lineup in the middle over guards where he’s very valuable to give different looks, eat blocks, and open lanes for BJ and Perkins to make plays. Hell, he’s played BJ over guards some. Gaye’s a strong-side 3-4 NFL DE that’s not gonna have a ton of sacks and TFLs there or at LSU, but he’s been extremely valuable—especially since Smith went down—but much more quietly than we probably expected him to be after he came out dominating I. His 1st game in 2020. That was probably never who he was gonna be. But he’s still extremely valuable and would be a big loss.

Speaking of, Wingo might be the biggest loss on on the entire DL were he to go down at this point. He has been incredible.

Your posts are in perfect lock step with your assessment/terminology regarding the Program's recent past.
But unlike the rest of us who criticize the Program, you seem to pride yourself in using a snotty "See, I told you they suck!" kind of tone. Like "of course so and so player/coach fricked up! How could you people not know so and so was gonna frick up !?!?!"
Try to just STFU - your anger is all that's getting through.
Nice try on the whole "Truth" deflection bit. I didn't say anything about truthfulness.
If you are going to respond to my post that referred to the way you seem to enjoy pointing out the less than successful aspects of the LSU Football Program...I'll wait.
Thanks

Quite honestly, I had been a bit disappointed myself. But it’s just so hard for interior DL in a 3-4 to make splash plays because they’re usually eating blocks for the BJs and Perkins of the team. But Kelly said Monday that Saturday was the 1st game J Roy has played healthy all season. He’s been dealing with an injured back. But we have zero depth there, so he’s had to play. But a couple of former players who know way more than us actually have him the proverbial “game ball” Saturday. But they watch games differently than us lay people. I’m assuming he took on some double teams opening up plays for BJ and Perkins to finish.

He seems to be playing not to get hurt. He could be very physical but lacks the drive it seems. Hopefully he comes alive this week cause we sure need him to get to Herndon.

Somebody posted that Ali did not grow up with the game and just isn't a very good football player. I'm all in with that.
With that frame/size - plus multi year starter in the SEC - he's gonna get drafted.
Even if he's on a practice squad it could be they try to put 50/60 lbs on him and move him inside.
That's a big baw to try to go through/around. Like a Chris Jones, maybe?

Savion needs to get in there more. He’s got that twitch that is needed at DE.
