Mertz is the main problem, but our OL hasn't been good either.

In my opinion, the OL is the main problem. When Mertz has a pocket and can step into a throw, he’s looked pretty good. Obviously on the move, he’s terrible and throws 2-3 interceptable balls a game, so I’m not saying he’s good overall.

But 2 yards rushing is an absolute ridiculous embarrassment

Leonhard as a head coach would be a force to reckon with on the recruiting trail. He has the cred that few can match.

Walk on that becomes a starter and All Big 10. 8-9 years starting in the pros and a very good DC.

He can sit across and tell recruits what is needed because he did it. Saban may be able to tell you what it takes to get to the pros, Leonhard can say " Saban might know, Day might know, PJ Fleck might know.....But I KNOW

Same with Jim Harbaugh and Prime as well. There are not many others that can say what they can.

let's just say what would you do with a coach that thinks so little of recruiting he left the department vacant for 9 months?

Yikes. I thought Harsin was a Boise man, but apparently he is heavily influenced by Paul Chryst. Harsin filled positions in the department, he just refuses to meet HS coaches.

4 out of the last 5 years have been subpar. (Including this year)

In his last five complete seasons, he's won 10 games twice, played for a conference championship twice, and won 4/5 bowl games.

You're Wisconsin. Don't get carried away.

Looking at their schedule on paper that looked like 9-3 should've been the floor. That they already have that 3 is pretty bad.
It's clear that Leonhard is the heavy favorite to get the real gig but it'll be interesting to see how they handle it if he drops 3 or 4.

Per #Badgers officials: Paul Chryst was due $20 million (and change) after being removed as HC. Parties agreed to a payment of $11 million, to be paid no later than Feb. 1, 2023. Funds come from UW Foundation. No taxpayer dollars.

UW needs to give Pat Narduzzi a call. He would be an excellent fit there.

Not that bad, but not very good.

A better metric is how many wins when an underdog.

Was abysmal at that.

Why take less money to be fired? What did he do?

He didn't do nothing.

Wisconsin is DOOMED to Nebraska type mediocracy.

Even worse than that. They are back to the Morton days. Wisconsin is the next Cal.

There are no premier programs in the Big Ten West. None. When divisions go away Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and especially Wisconsin go into a once in a decade Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State have bad years so an Iowa or Nebraska can win the big ten.

I was shocked how bad the OL looked against Wash State. Tackles getting beat across face and even tossed. A lot of people are focusing on W/L record. Had Chryst finished the season he might’ve gone 7-5. It wouldn’t be the first 7-5 season at Wisky, but I never remember a 4-5 loss Badger team looking like this. Bad line play and not much fight.

I disagree with the comparison to Nebraska and Solich. They abandoned the Osborne tree and did a total program 180 in hiring Callahan. I don’t see things going that way in Madison.
