I never understood the want in him and being satisfied with him as the qb. Terrible accuracy, can’t really run well, talks like an idiot. Etc… Did people really think he would be good?

Why did you need to include this? You derail a thread with shite like this.

I’m bummed that he/saints everything has started out this way this season. I actually had high hopes for him after what little we saw of him last season.

He never had to be amazing, just above average and able to utilize the tools around him.

He wasn't that great to begin with. Somehow the coaching staff thinks he will be better with a fractured back

When Payton was here it made sense that he could potentially rehab him and turn him into a top tier QB.

The way people pumped him was incredible... most of his TDs last year came in the first game against GB, 5 of them to be exact. After that he was pretty average but had Payton to scheme so it masked his true nature. This guy is obsessed with throwing the deep ball to Olave in double coverage.

Not many good options. He wasn’t a first choice. And look what it cost to get a guy like Russell Wilson. I remember some people wanted Baker. He isn’t even injured, so he is worse.

Seriously what was the alternative?

Who else we are getting? Because this last qb draft class was panned as one of the worst in a while.

Yea, its not working out great but outside of trading for someone we really had no choice.

Its not like its just Jameis either. We are getting our shite kicked in everywhere

He has arm talent that can't be taught. If bread if anyone could have brought have brought him around, it's Payton.

If hes not there yet, Allen won't be the guy to get him there. Trading trading next year's 1st was an idiotic thing to do...

I was all on board with Jameis being our quarterback before that, because if he sucked we could draft the future

None of us are allowed to pick the QB for the Saints. I think since Winston was named starter we wanted him to do well, I thought it was common knowledge how all this works

He was a free agent, so he didn’t cost us picks or players.
He has a strong arm and was the passing yards leader in 2019.
He was 26 when he signed with us and has not hit prime QB years yet.
Payton is an offensive guru who we hoped could develop him.
We didn’t waste a pick getting a Jordan Love or Dwayne Haskins type QB.

Now, I realize he’s got a quirky attitude (but the players seem to really like him) and we knew he will try to make throws from time to time he shouldn’t and will sometimes be inaccurate. But we can’t trade for a Joe Burrow or a Patrick Mahomes. And you are just as likely to draft a Josh Rosen as a Josh Allen.

I just don’t get the hate for Winston. He’s not Justin Herbert or anything, but he’s also not Bridgewater, Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, Justin Fields or Carson Wentz.

He’s a middle of the road NFL QB and people here act like he’s not good enough to play in the USFL.

I don’t have an issue with his interviews. Some of y’all look at football players through the perspective of an 8 y/o. Damn it’s football, a game, why would a grown man outside of the owner of that team give a shite about how well someone speaks?

Your thread title is crap. Sorry. No one before we signed him that I can remember said..."hey guys this is our qb of the future."

It was/is about cheap, who else is cheap, give him a shot.

If you find that qb tree full of HoF Qbs for cheap let the FO know.
