This is for lazy rich people… there way too many cheaper options at a grocery store…
Did your parents not teach you how to cook

I think those things are dumb, but you clearly don't know what they are

I cook plenty. Like I said, it was a nice mindless respite twice a week with two parents working and running carpool, and better and cheaper than take out or a lot of grocery store type “convenience” goods.

I make no apologies, but it’s been several years since I’ve done it and that was the only one I had tried.

If you only use ingredients that you are gonna use up - especially things such as international ingredients, then you are correct. Per portion ingredient price is def higher, but if one were to make identical recipes and factor in ingredient wastage over time, then I would say the gap closes significantly.

I think if you're gonna do it, makes sense to just fill in what is otherwise cooked at home to add in some variety. And maybe give folks some credit and replace lazy with lack of confidence and you can make a better point. Food is so expensive these days, it pays to have a sure thing when you put something on the table.

You would be surprised how many folks did not learn how to cook at home.

I learned the basics but taught myself a lot in my early thirties.
