quote:I hope they do it and get it along with all of the other things they're proposing. I always wanted UNO to add football, it's in a good area for a stadium to be built. I wanted it to happen back in the 80s because I would have stayed home and just played right there instead of going elsewhere. If they could pull off a stadium like that back by the lakefront imagine the noise on Saturday nights from the roar of the crowd. Lol People that live in that area would love it
plus football would bring in more corporate sponsors.

Ok, now this is awesome. I’m envisioning people “sailgating” on boats before games, like how Tennessee fans do it.
I would love to see this happen.

Nah
There’s a levee, and then the preeminent parking lot in NOLA now to smoke weed in parked cars
Plus you’d have to actually care about UNO football and afford a boat to bring a boat out there. Not many people will check both boxes

The success rate of athletic fee votes in Louisiana is extremely low.
They would have been better passing it under the radar then sending all the stuff out

Louisiana is maybe the only, or one of just a very few, states where a student vote must happen for an athletic fee to be instituted.
UTSA, $240/semester fee for athletics. At roughly the 30k enrollment, that’s an additional $14 Million + per year. Nice benefit for those G5 programs, something the G5s in Louisiana aren’t able to benefit from.

Yeppp not to mention the votes are always basically luck of the draw
Tech did it the best with the "building fee" that went to two athletics project right off the bat then provided academic project money.

A Tulane/UNO home/home annual rivalry game would be great for the city

It will hurt LSU recruiting thus will never be allowed to happen…

The student vote failed by a huge margin. Obviously students at UNO don’t want football. It’s a shame because the development that was planned on the lake would have drastically changed that community.

If they had a student vote on whether to disband all sports or not UNO students would vote to do so.

Because who needs UNO football when Edna Karr would probably beat them
Tulane should go ahead and charge the student rate for students of all local colleges. I imagine UNO students are enjoying the hell out of LSU and Tulane being ranked this year. Some probably enjoyed the runs that Southeastern and Nicholls went on
But such a stadium development wouldn’t have changed the community. It would have been tucked back in behind Lakefront Arena and forgotten except by those who use it
