More reason to keep my copy of The Bachman Books.
Rage was actually the worst work in there, which kind of figures since it was a previously unpublished work he put out under the Bachman name. The Long Walk, Roadwork, and The Running Man are all very good, though only one of those is ever really talked about.

Because he randomly murdered 3 people.

If I remember correctly, he was very inspired by Stephen King's book "The Rage".
Yeah looking at Wiki, there have been multiple school shootings where this book seemed to serve as some level of inspiration for the shooter.

And “Catcher In The Rye” inspired Mark David Chapman to shoot John Lennon. Yet it was required reading while I was in middle school quite a while after that.

I read it. I haven't killed anyone.
Yet.
ETA: I'd keep an eye on that person with the user name Holden Caulfield though.

I met a girl about a year after that and went on a few dates. Turns out she was at that school and her family moved that summer to get away. She would not talk about it at all and I’m pretty sure it messed her up for life.

They should have to wear some kind of monitor that keeps track of steps or heartrate or movement, if you haven't completed X amount of physical activity you only get Y amount of food.

My point being that books and media are blamed for all kinds of shite and not the people.
I read Rage as a kid, listened to a lot of heavy metal, and played a lot of video games. Never killed anyone.

Wouldn’t doubt it. Whenever there is any mass event you are connected to, directly or indirectly, you likely get a lot of PTSD from it simply because it uproots your whole life.

This was another one I read after high school, so probably a little too old for my first reading of it. But holy shite that book sucks.

To be fair to Stephen King, he just let the book fall out of print. It wasn't like there was some national outrage against the book. He just didn't feel comfortable with it being promoted or actively sold anymore.

He was officially diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and has been hospitalized several times during his incarceration.
Not a big jump that he’s receiving medication for that.

So he had these particular people picked out to kill?

Ok. That's why I asked.
