All you old radio listeners may remember him Charles Barbre

I used to live across the street from him as a kid. Him and his family was really nice and his kids let me hang out with them even though they were older than I was. Had a great voice for radio and was good on his TV show.

I remember when Fast Track was a sponsor. Rooster was always trying to pawn off a free “Tub o’Fries”.
“Hey sewer rat, you wanna tub o fries?”
“Yeah man”
“We’ll come on down to the studio and get your free coupon”
“Nah, I’m good”
RIP, Rooster.

frick Cancer!!! Very sad to hear. Remember when sports talk radio was still “new” and hearing him call in to Ott and Hanni everyday.
RIP Rooster!!
ETA: may have had one of the most recognizable, and unique voices I’ve ever heard. You knew who was talking just by his voice.. again!!!!!! frick CANCER!!!!!

Rooster was good people. I kinda knew him from my Front Row Lunatics days, and also went to grad school with his son.
RIP.
RIP.

Rooster sat with us at the baseball games. He could spit stats from way back like it was yesterday. Was always kind and eager to talk sports.
But more important is that he was a great guy. Led prayer groups very active in his church.
Section 127 will sure miss him!!!

After 9/11, Charles went to Ground Zero to volunteer his time to help those in need, and the doctors believe that his cancer was a result of him being exposed to various elements around Ground Zero.
When asked if he would have done anything differently, he said no...that he was called to do the Lord's work and wouldn't trade his experience for anything.
I am paraphrasing, but this is the gist of something I read about him in the last year or so in a Catholic-based publication in BR.
RIP Rooster.

Charles did a radio show with Jimmy Ott way back when. I believe they were on WIBR at noon. It was one of the first shows. That got Ott started.
They had a very good show and helped get what we have today started.
I’d met the Rooster in person and he was a gentleman and a scholar.

Charles was a great guy, and a staunch defender of life. His main prayer when asking for intentions was always an end to abortion in Baton Rouge. I am glad he got to see his prayers answered before he left this world. Sail on Charles, you will be missed. Vivat Jesu'

May he Rest In Peace.
His work at the WTCenter is tantamount to John 15: 13……
“ Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

RIP Rooster. I watched his TV show a ton as kid. Especially in the late 90s and early 2000s with Greg Bowser.
