These Men Fought for Self Governance and State Sovereignty NOT Slavery.
"According to LSU football tradition, the name came from a Civil War regiment known as the Louisiana Tigers, which distinguished itself with its fighting spirit in the battle of the Shenandoah Valley, where it was said they 'fought like tigers,'" wrote Dan Hardesty in his book, "LSU: The Louisiana Tigers
I sick of having my Ancestors slandered and dishonored!
Geaux Tigers!
"Eventually, all the infantrymen from Louisiana became known as “Louisiana Tigers.” They were recognized for their incredible courage and ferociousness during battle in the Civil War and “tigers” represented their heroism.

Just picked up a copy of "Rekilling Lincoln" by Walter Donald Kennedy. It has some great information in it. The South was Right!

Are you actually trying to rewrite the history of the Civil War? Give that one up and move on. As they say, “After all, tomorrow is another day.”

If it were about Slavery this would have been ratified
The Corwin Amendment, also called the “Slavery Amendment,” was a constitutional amendment passed by Congress in 1861 but never ratified by the states that would have banned the federal government from abolishing the institution of slavery in the states where it existed at the time.

The best thing LSU and LSU fans can do is not bring this up.

Cultural revolution won’t end until everything has been cleansed. The South is just first.

My Centenary athletes were known as The Iron Men when they excelled at football prior to WWII. The Methodist Church was petitioned to drop the name since it sounded aggressive. So, they complied and changed it to Centenary Gentlemen (Gents).
Ten years ago the women of Centenary petitioned that 'Gents' was too male and he must be replaced as the logo. They are now the Coon Hounds.
This is not a joke.
