re: Best comprehensive cancer care, Ochsner or LCMC?

Tulane knocked it out of the park for me, their cancer center in downtown is top notch and they have a bunch of people on staff that used to work for MD Anderson. Appointments and followups with other specialists were always prompt after referrals from the cancer center.
Ochsner/Slidell Memorial was okay. They're lacking staff big time on the northshore now and I had to go to Me-tree a few times for oncology appts.
Those are the two facilities i used with stage 3 testicular followed up with sarcoidosis. There's a bit going on right now that's expected to be minor but the two hospitals are all over it right now to quell any uprising.

I disagree - I think OLOL is better than Ochsner BR
Never go to Ochsner in BR. That hospital has been a joke ever since it opened as Summit Hospital.

One thing you've gotta remember with cancer treatment is that it's not just oncology you have to visit with, there's a lot of specialists in other areas involved to. For me I had urology, pulmonology, and rheumatology involved with testicular oncology. Getting in at the Tulane Cancer center meant you have great research doctors at your disposal but all of the other specialists involved as well. When I had to have RPLND surgery a few months ago ALL of my specialists were in the operating room working on me and making split second decisions on my health - especially when it came to the long term prognosis of organ damage from the tumors.
Just something to keep in mind.

LCMC Has an incredible staff they just get a bad rap sometimes because they are forced to treat all the freecare patients and inmates. Their care is top notch though.

You do know the CEO of Ochsner met with Trump multiple times during the peak of Covid?
The CEO of Ochsner is has moved on and is now the CEO at Sutter Health.

Correct. That just happened so not really relevant to the peak of covid timeline.
Sutter Health just got in some hot water...believe they were fined around 100 million.

I was treated here in BR, by Dr. Pat Stagg. He treated patients that MD Anderson turned away, fwiw

Best of luck. I’m at MD Anderson, and feel very fortunate to be there. I get you putting this out on TD, but maybe there are other sources for advice. Again, best of luck.

What oncologist did you see
Prostate.
I didn't have chemo, so Dr Padman was the only oncologist I dealt with.
Basically, I was biopsied and diagnosed at another facility. Big delay in the biopsy because I have A-Fib.
My brother (an MD) suggested getting a second opinion and set me with Dr Scott Delacroix (Urologist). He drove the train from then on. He was planning on removing my prostate, but wanted me to see Dr Padman first. Ultimately, I ended up having brachitherapy surgery, external beam radiation, and these fricking hormone shots that if I had to do it all over again, I would not take.
I can't bitch. I've tested clean for almost two years now. Still having some radiation tissue damage complications, but things could be a whole lot worse.
For at least a year, I would get seemingly random phone calls from Dr Padman checking up on me. It cracked me up!

MD Anderson is a great option. Look into getting a second opinion with a doctor that specializes in your specific cancer regardless of where you go.

kinda funny you bring up Saudi because y'know, Donald Trump.
Gaslighting and really refuted nothing I said. Melt harder cocksucker.
OP why is MD Anderson not an option?
