In Mandeville, currently with UPC.
What is everyone going with? Looking for some recommendations that won't be astronomical.
Thanks

Shelter Insurance was great during Laura and Delta. Worth looking into.

Same here. Do you mean self-insured, as in only carrying liability and dropping fire/wind/hail?

I could not imagine having the largest asset I will ever own not insured against catastrophic loss.

Pushed us over to another company and got the standard
Catastrophe Coastal Property - not even close to the "coast" either.

If someone is getting raked over the coals on premiums they are required to pay because their mortgage forces them to, and they have a considerable savings built up that they don't mind allocating to repairs, and they are willing to take on that risk, then it may be worth considering?
Odds are, any repairs would be a nice chunk of change to meet any deductible such as a roof repair. Depending on where you live (elevation/trees), then it may worth taking on that risk.
If all of the above works out, then really the only thing that would really set you back is a total loss event... which is extremely rare (tornado, x00 year flood event, etc.).
Again, it's a risk and totally depends on an individual's location, financial situation and risk tolerance.
ETA:
I'm with Geico right now, and they sub wind/hail out to Sagesure.

how many years you've been with them? They're getting off anyone they can.

I have Allied Trust, was really worried about a huge increase in my July renewal. Only went up $200, I was thrilled.
