Electric car charging stations are coming to Jackson

quote:

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - “We want it to be like an outlet mall for electric cars.” Kenneth Cleveland owns Universal Solar Enterprise. He is bringing a charging station to the city of Jackson on John R. Lynch Street. With more electric cars being made recently, Cleveland says the demand for more charging stations has skyrocketed. “We have the interstate I 20, 20 interstate 55 close so we will be able to provide not only electric charging stations for the local community but for the traffic that’s going back and forth to Atlanta and Memphis,” Cleveland said.

quote:

Cleveland says the station will charge up to ten cars at a time. Not only can people charge up their vehicles, Cleveland also says the development will bring job opportunities to the city. “We are very excited; we are looking for growth opportunities. We are looking to create up to one-hundred jobs for the local community so the local community of Jackson can have a good tax base because we are going to pay income up to 15-20 an hour for general labor”,” he stated.

I’m honestly surprised this is their first one.

So it will be located West of Jackson State University. It will be convenient for I20 drivers but will be out of the way for people driving North on I55.

I’m guessing it has something to do with funding from the federal government and cheap property

So, how much money is Mr. Cleveland getting from the Federal Government to install charging stations that will not be used and will more than likely be vandalized...

So on Lynch street. Frickin Lynch street. That’s bait. If they’re hunting us now that’s gonna be like a corn pile.

Lots of places have the regular chargers. Very few have the SuperChargers in the south than will allow you to recharge in 20-30 minutes.

There's a Tesla charging station in the Georgia Blue parking lot in Madison (exit 108 on I-55)

That’s happened here. Thieves have broken into the charging stations to get the copper wiring on the inside.

I think Jackson needs to hire Sarita’s Mexican Restaurant to do their tourism.

Mississippi’s plan to build EV chargers along highways approved

quote:

The Biden Administration announced on Wednesday that Mississippi’s EV Infrastructure Deployment Plan has been approved ahead of schedule under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program.

quote:

One of the first priorities for the state is to place high powered chargers along the approximately 817 miles of Designated EV Corridors. Officials said about $18.3 million of investment in FY22 and FY23 funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for Mississippi to take steps in building out a convenient, affordable, reliable, and equitable charging network.

Well, Houston is the energy capitol of the world. All those skyscrapers will be home to electric companies someday.
