Imposing United States tariffs on nearly all foreign imports would create about 10 million American jobs while boosting domestic output by nearly 20 percent, a new study finds.
The study, conducted by the Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA), reveals that increasing U.S. tariffs by 15 percent for all imported products and by 35 percent on products in vital supply chains would create about 10 million American jobs and generate over $600 billion in new revenue.
Overall domestic output, according to CPA researchers, would jump 19 percent with tariffs across the board, with a 52 percent increase in output from the electrical industry, a 54 percent increase in output from the textiles and clothing industry, and a 30 percent increase in output in chemical manufacturing.
Tariffs on all foreign imports also translate to tax cuts for Americans.

say it with me....

“…[T]he federal government could abolish corporate taxation outright or cut personal income taxes by 25 percent,” CPA researchers write. “In our simulation, we turn the $603 billion gain in tax revenue into household and business income to avoid the deflationary effect of the government absorbing more funds.”
U.S. free trade policies have resulted in decades of job cuts, stagnant wages, and a collapse of heartland American communities.

There is a concerted take down of the US happening. That would ruin ‘the plan’

Yeah, but the deep state doesn't want that.
They are not for the American people..

Where would the massive amount of capital come from to build the new plants?

Mnuchin (sp?) Wanted to do reshoring program in lieu of lots of stupid Rona spending.
Pay companies to come back to United States. With strings attached of course.
Would have been way better use of money.

This is how our country generated funds before they decided to start taking it from the people.

Where would the massive amount of capital come from to build the new plants?
Now if we would only stop sending that money to Ukraine….

Maybe the trillions we have thrown away on useless wars the past 20 years?
Maybe the billions we have just flippantly thrown to Ukraine the past few months?
Our government never does anything to help actual Americans. Its almost like we are occupied by an evil group of self-interested globalists....

If the government would spend it, that would do it. While they are at it they could create the engineering know how and industries domestically to build manufacturing parts.
I’ve built a few plants, and wayyy too often the equipment comes from Europe and we have to fly their engineers here to tool.
$100M is a good starting point per automated large facility

Trump did that. It works!

The companies that build here.
When Trump cut the corp and business tax.. jobs started the process of returning.
He left a loop hole for allies to avoid the tariffs if they simply opened factories here.
You tell ANY company in the WORLD that there will be no tax.... The jobs will roll in! The amount they pay to build here will be nothing in compared savings.

Water is wet.
You know what free trade also does? Generates profit for shareholders and kickbacks to Washington.
Both parties need leveled

Ok, as someone with a lot of international experience (exports) there’s more than one side to that coin.
When you go protectionist, other countries do too. Exports have a multiplicative effect on dollars brought in through sales. We want them to buy our finished goods….badly. Encouraging other countries to put tariffs on our goods is bad.
I’ll put one exception to that, and it’s China. We do need to rein in our dependence on their finished goods. Raw materials….no tariffs on imports….ever IMO. We have far too much dependence on finished goods coming from there.

Ugh.
Why in the frick do my fellow right wingers think MORE TAXATION is a good thing? You can say it lowers taxation on Americans, but that avoids talking about overall COSTS.
How about this; Eliminate corp taxes and end the regulatory state. Make it so that that doing business here is less costly than other developed nations.
Get rid of TONS of regulations and hidden taxation, and business will flourish here without imposing even more costs on society.

Tariffs are great for China but terrible for us. Signed Paul Ryan.

But it has to be done right. Done incorrectly tariffs can backfire on the economy. “Done right” is a case by case issue.

That’s what Trump was doing and that is the number one reason he was attacked. The reason our manufacturing went overseas was to avoid paying the American worker an honest wage. Both democrats and republicans support sending jobs overseas because the people that finance their campaigns own the big corporations that benefit from cheap labor. It’s not rocket science, a moron can see why h
They hated Trump!

We need reciprocal tariffs.
