We have a trip planned for USVI in feb which we already have our flight booked, but wanted to do a quick 3 or 4 night Caribbean trip the week of thanksgiving, but airfare is still so damn expensive. Any word on it coming down?

You will have your choice of seats and not much riff raff on the flight. Quit bitching and go on your trip.

There's your problem. Unless you're leaving on Thanksgiving day, flights are usually quite expensive before the holiday (mon-wed) and after (sat-mon). You really only have a few days buffer to fly at a reasonable cost, otherwise if you can wait until the following week or early/mid December no one is traveling and flights are very cheap

And I'll pile on with the "flights are radically cheaper than they were 50 years ago, so just be happy about that".

We used to go to cabo for thanksgiving. Never was bad.

This year its stupid. Tried several other locations- same thing. I would hope that they decrease fares to fill those seats soon. But maybe people are just paying the obscene amounts

If y'all are flexible, maybe you can score a deal closer to Thanksgiving. Problem is many people book 2-3 months in advance to have plans set but I have noticed a lot of cheaper airfare about a month out. So keep checking back up through early November and if you see a deal book it

Pretty much everything in the Caribbean is 700-800 dollars right now for those dates. Seriously considering Vegas at the current moment if this don’t come back down

Are both of y'all committed to the Caribbean? Guessing you can get very good deals out of Houston/Nola to random spots in the US or even someplace like Puerto Rico.

It's weird that in the past this used to be about when to look for Thanksgiving/ late fall flights (2-3 months) but there's great deals out now for September and October

I’m 100% flexible, just looking for a spot to do a quick 3-4 nights before thanksgiving and I would prefer if it’s a spot I can look at my wife in a bikini most the day.

What do you think the chances are flights drop some for Sun valley, boise, or Idaho falls between now and March? Prices are $1,500, $840, and $718 respectively for my dates (and times).
I’m looking at flying out of either JAN or MLU to one of the above 3/5-3/10 and arriving by 3:00 or so.
