Trip from BR to Nashville

Debating weather to fly or drive. All the issues with flight cancellations and delays makes me lean toward driving. Would have to leave my car at the airport because I’m going solo. Going for 5-6 days. Might just rent a car. Are there any available?

I do that drive all the time. Unless you're flying direct out of MSY, I vote drive.

You can get pretty cheap southwest flights out of new Orleans to Nashville if you don't feel like driving. Id just do that

I have done the SW flight many of time. I did it back in November of last year for my daughter’s wedding. First time in maybe 30 or so flights they screwed up and lost my bag.

Google maps shows the route from BR-Mandeville-Meridian-Birmingham to be about 10 minutes shorter, but I think it underestimates the Covington construction traffic (and how heavily travelled much of 12 is in general).
If you drive it, consider taking 55 to Memphis (if you do this, take 269 to 40 just before Memphis instead of going into Memphis and going 240 to 40, Memphis drivers drive like kamikaze pilots).
I routinely drive to Memphis but haven't yet made the trek from Memphis to Nashville. With that said, the drive from BR to Memphis is great once you get off I-12. Most of the route is fairly rural, except around Jackson (the traffic usually isn't bad there, I've driven through at 5pm on a Wednesday and it was far better than morning or afternoon drives in Baton Rouge).

I have done it every which way (to Murfreesbore) including via Memphis, Birmingham,Chattanooga and taking the Natchez Trace, The trace will take a longer time but it’s worth doing one time especially if you have the time to stop along the way and check stuff out
. However, a non stop from MSY is a pretty EZ flight

Easy drive on good, rural interstate.
