Is there a way to test ethanol-free gas to make sure it is really ethanol-free?

And yes, I could have googled the subject, but I just felt like posting up a thread.
Someone educate me, please.

If you can afford it, it's not ethanol free.

Wouldn’t there be an inspection sticker on the pump?

I test my gas using a kit from Amazon when I fill up my classic Camaro

Taste. EF doesn't have a corn aftertaste.

Drink it. If you get drunk it has Ethanol. If you die it was probably ethanol free

Drink it. Ethanol free is very bitter.

Ethanol tastes like corn.

Thanks for all the "taste it" suggestions.

Maybe for you, but not for me.

You can separate the ethanol from gasoline pretty easily with water since it's hygroscopic .. should be able to use the same method to test for ethanol.

You can also do this with a clear kitchen glass:
Basically, add a little water to the gas.
Shake, and let it sit on flat surface for 5 minutes.
You will see a distinct line between the ethanol gas and the water.
I pumped 40 gallons of "ethanol free gas" in my boat a while back.
It was NOT ethanol free.

Just mesh. Buy whatever people are selling. Stop making life harder than it needs to be.

Taste each pump. The real stuff is sweeter

Take a couple of big huffs. If the demon that comes up to grab your head and pull it back towards the vapors has green eyes, you are good to go.

Removing ethanol may drop the octane rating as well. Make sure the equipment you'd be using it in doesn't have a minimum octane rating, or you'll be doing more harm than good.

You can perform distillation and see at which temperatures it boils and for how long at each boiling point
But you probably shouldn’t.

Make sure the pump has a different color handle.
