GOOGL has just broke above its 8 and 21 EMA today and has over 15k OI in 122.5 sept calls. These were bought for over 5.5 million on 8/18. It's been trading in a range since May and is setting up for a move. Weekly MACD cross is + and RSI trending up. The calls in OI are down 70+%. I am already in this trade and down, but with the move today will be adding to my position tomorrow. If this goes the wrong way I will cut quick, likely a close under 116. I am looking at the volume gap to 129.

Would love feed back

Have a feeling the markets go south today with the Fed speech early today. I already own Google but sure would be nice to see a move up because the trading range has been the same for months as you mentioned. My options days are over though lost to much money playing them

All I know is over the past 6 months, the two largest share holders, Vanguard and Blackrock, have both been selling off and not buying.

Technical analysis without fundamental and other economic/policy considerations is not a good strategy.

If all it took was technical analysis to succeed, I would just let a computer trade for me while I’m on the beach.

I like it because it is not about penny stocks, crypto, or a thread about weekly stock trades where the winner has a 3% gain. I will follow with interest. Have an upvote.

That’s why I don’t just use technicals. Price, option flow, technical, and fundamental. You see anything wrong with the fundamentals in google?

The macro isn’t the best right now so admittedly could be a short trade

Markets been weak leading up to Jackson hole, except for yesterday, so I think we could see some strength the next few days. Just a trade here, willing to cut it if I’m wrong. GOOGL could stay in range for another few months

I don’t have an opinion on Google per se.

What is your trade specifically?

thought that was obvious in my initial post. One can do whatever they want as simple as get long the stock.

I am just simply giving an example of what I think is a decent set up.

buy puts or short the stock if you don't agree.

Just bought GOOG @ $115.68.

This was on my radar before you made the post, but your beautiful TA which I didn’t understand at all really sold me in it.

Such a broad statement is comical. Plenty of people make a whole lot of money trading off of technicals alone. I could say the same that if you do not look at technicals then you should just put your money in a mutual fund (it would be an equally bad statement to the one you typed). You either do not understand technicals or you do not understand trading. In that case, you would indeed be better off in a mutual fund. I do not know why anyone would make a trade without relying on technicals. Maybe a long term investment, but if I am not looking at technicals for a trade then I am making a mistake.

Which is precisely the type of play you would look at technicals for.

No, it’s not obvious and you still don’t answer my question. I’ve been trading options for over 30 years and unless I know specifically what your trade is, I can’t ask further questions and give an opinion. Not gonna drag it out of you. I’m out.

Your reading comprehension sucks. I didn’t say technical analysis has no value.

I do look at technicals but it looks like that’s all he was looking at in his OP.

52 week high is over $150.00. Seems to be a good value at the moment.
