Went every other year 1996 - 2008. Stayed in Tampa and drove up and back for the game. Generally agree with comments I’ve read. Decent (but trashy) bar scene if your 22. Terribly trashy fans. Walked out in ‘96 after they beat us 56-13 ahead of a normal looking family and heard the dad turn to his wife and under 10 kids and say “well that arse beating will put an end to all that f’ing absurd bullshite about Atlanta”.

Takeaway. If your in your early 20’s, give it a go. Just avoid fights. Otherwise, I haven’t missed it for the last 14 years.

frick Gainesville. I went twice and it was miserable both times. Their fans are the worst. The campus isn’t that nice. The setup in the stadium is terrible, with UF putting visitors next to areas of students. I was next to a bunch of loud, drunk assholes at both games.

Prepare yourself. Hopefully you will be able to talk a ton of shite after a great win.

Don’t get caught bringing liquor into stadium because they will arrest you. I watched a cop walk up 40 rows to arrest two baws minding their own business because they had a flask under their seat.

One of the guys on our trip was arrested for sneaking a flask in when he entered. Ironically the FL fan we were with had his ticket confiscated but was not arrested.

Nothing tickles me more than reading LSU fans’ worst trip to Gainesville stories.

I realize some fans are just in the wrong place at the wrong time on a road trip. But Florida is different. The cops go out of their way to antagonize visitors. Whether LSU wins or loses, the UF fans will be assholes to you. There is nothing enjoyable about being there. When people suggest you keep your head down, and leave right after the game, that’s a pretty good sign to stay away.
I’m not some over sensitive puss. I’ve had great trips win or lose to Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Texas A & M, Arky, Miss St., Ole Miss, Georgia, and South Carolina. Florida truly sucks and the responses on this thread are dead on accurate.

People are being harsh! Being an LSU fan in Florida I have seen the tigers play in the swamp 7-8 times.. I’ve always had a good time and was welcomed with open arms. Some people suck but that’s at any away game. (Be prepared for subpar food at the tailgate)

The game I went to as a student, after the first quarter a pair of cops/stadium security started walking row by row through the section (tickets through the LSU ticket office) and made everyone pull out their tickets to show their seat and searching cups/bleachers for alcohol.

If you didnt have it or were in the we wrong section, they were grabbing students by the arms and kicking them out of the game. If their friends talked back or argument of any kind the cops would were grabbing their arms and yanking them out.

Entire groups of students ended up leaving because cops were forcefully removing one student, another would complain then get grabbed, so then the rest of the group left to follow in solidarity, etc.

They also said we would be kicked out if we continued to stand (even though all Florida fans behind us were standing). A student a few seats down from us pointed and said “they’re all standing” and the cop smirked and grabbed him by the arm and kicked him out for I guess daring to talk back.

It was just odd blatant harassment and took the “fun” out of an SEC road trip that i have never experienced anywhere else. Everyone was just kind of in shock with how many students they kicked out of the game in 10 minutes. They then kept one of those cops/security dudes standing right by the section to rest of the game.

And that was just IN the stadium, the harassment and tickets outside while trying to tailgate was just as bad. Cops would roll through, make everyone pull out their IDs to check ages, made us take down folding tables because “drinking games” weren’t allowed (even though it was just a table that was holding our alcohol), writing tickets for open container, etc.

This was in ‘08, I’ve heard some UF fans says it was a former President who had a hard on for cracking down on game day drinking and he’s not there anymore so

other game experience.

Get tickets right by the UF student section and wear P&G body paint. Did it in 2002 and it was a blast.
