Agreed, broheem. In fact we’re strangely the same on that exact point, which I’d tried to make a few times early on and was metaphorically crucified for it (not crucified in real life, thank goodness). But I went on to attempt to make the point that even had Trump shitcanned Fauci, he would’ve still continued to influence the situation despite being exiled from any official affiliation with the Trump administration. He would have actually been made a living martyr and his public and media profile increased exponentially.

Pardon me for not doing cartwheels over this. Fauci "retiring" changes nothing. He isn't going to retire. He is going to become an "advsior", a "consultant", or a "liason" to whoever takes his place and he will keep on being the primary influence at the NIH until he drops dead. He won't have the official title but every major decision is going to go through him.
