After reading JV's postgame comments I feel a little less pissed at Dusty, but still he can frick off. frick right the frick off.

The Astros have seen plenty of Bundy over the years and have had plenty of success. Tuve, Yed, Ted, Yuli, and even Dubon have taking him deep in the past. Bregman and Maldy (there's a shocker) have not had much luck, but it might be time for that to change.

Jorge Polanco is the only Twin with more than 4 ABs against Frambaw, and most of their lineup has never faced him.

Meanwhile the Astros are 3 games up on the Yankees for the #1 seed in the AL.

Still a month until the postseason with the Yanks on the heels. Makes no sense not to put JV back out for the 7th when this bullpen sucks so much lately, he's the ace for a reason. FODB

I would've left GOATlander/Cylander in another inning, but he seemed okay with it so I am too.

Glad we got the W. Felt a lot closer than it should have been.

Another three hits for Trea Turner tonight, giving him 153 this season. Three more for Freddie Freeman, too, giving him an MLB-leading 154. The most important stat: Both have played all 122 Dodgers games this year

How can they play every game if they're dead?

Me too, he was only at 91 pitches. Wanting to reduce his pitch count as they go to a 5-man rotation seems like a BS excuse considering it's JV. Even coming off surgery he has thrown more than 91 pitches in 16 of his starts this season, and every start but 2 since April.

They could've taken the lead with one swing of the bat off Abreau. So yes, it was close.

I noticed JV in the dugout after he was taken out talking to the other starters and pointing to his elbow, as if he was taken out to protect it. I don’t have a problem if he doesn’t have a problem. I didn’t hear his postgame comments.

And at 91 pitches through six innings, Verlander wasn’t going to be in position to complete nine innings with a reasonable pitch count, anyway. In other words, he wasn’t going to throw a no-hitter.

“It was a pretty easy conversation,” said Verlander of his consultations with catcher Martín Maldonado and pitching coach Josh Miller. “I think we all agreed that was the right decision.”

Baker said the Astros will return to a five-man rotation the next time through, so they didn’t want to push Verlander much past 90 pitches on Tuesday.

It's true that he wasn't going to get the no-hitter, even if he could and was efficient over the next three innings that's still another 30ish pitches and no way Dusty was letting that happen.

Still, putting him on a 90ish pitch count because they're going back to a 5-man rotation seems excessively overprotective.

Agree, I think he pretty obviously had another inning in him. So, who’s going to the bullpen? Has to be Lance, right?

I don’t think there’s any chance they send Lance to the pen after just two starts. They’re going to see if he can shake off the rust and get right before October. I am fine with that, the upside is pretty high for him if he can get sharper over the next month.

My guess is Garcia, I could see Javier as well with him throwing more innings than he’s used to and his experience out there. I’d much rather Garcia at this point, I think he’s the clear choice

I doubt it's Lance. Why build his pitch count up to then immediately put him in the pen. Should be Luis getting ready for his role in the pen.

All the JV pitch count/5 man rotation talk is distracting us from the more dire problem. By all accounts, it looks like FODB has every intention of starting Maldy and Dubon in game 1 of the postseason

Yeah, you guys are right about Lance. It probably will be Luis, and I hope he doesn’t perceive it as a demotion. Both he and Javier are really piling up innings and could probably use a little reduction in workload.

It should be Luis, but I bet it's Javier due to innings. I bet we roll with a 5-man post-season rotation too considering it's condensed this year thanks to the lockout.

Might be some wiggle room there though depending on how the series go.

I would add the DAT to the list.

Yeah it’s an interesting point. The depth of our starting pitching this year is a massive advantage with this postseason schedule I think

2023 schedule was released. We play at PNC Park in Pittsburgh in early May. Might have to go to that
