I know the OT hates on some teachers, but it’s pretty fricked up if one of the demands not being met is A/C.

I’m right there on class sizes though. When I left the school district here there classes with 35:1 teacher ratios.

I'm looking at their organization chart on the district website:

Superintendent/CEO
Treasurer/CFO
Exec Director, Budget and Financial Management
Deputy Sup, Admin
Chief Academic Officer
Chief Transformation and Leadership Officer
Chief Accountability Officer
Chief Engagement Officer
Chief Communications Officer
Chief Equity Officer
Chief Operations Officer
Chief of Staff
General Counsel
Chief Human Resources Officer
Chief Information Officer
6 different Area Superintendents
Another 8 Exec Directors

I'd love to shadow some of these people for a day

i'd like to know the conditions that the AC is in currently and what the demands are.

i grew up in TX, so AC was necessary, but i learned in the 90s when northerners would bitch about 90s in August that all buildings weren't built with it.

is it that they want older buildings retrofitted with AC or that they want the AC turned to a certain temperature in particular?

Is this like one of those Congressional bills?
You know, the ones that have a title like the "Voter's Right Act" where there is all kinds of BS in there, but if you are against the extra BS then you are against Voter's rights?
If this is truly about just AC and class size, I stand with the teachers, but something tells me that there is more to it than just that.

This is wrong. There were two negotiation sessions last week, 8/16 and 8/18.

Teachers demand

AC in all schools for the students ha ha.
8% increase in wages
Full time art, music, and physical education teachers in every elementary school
Reduced class sizes, to increase number of teachers in the district

There might be more, but that’s what Columbus news stations are reporting.

Neither my elementary or middle school had A/C and they were in Georgia, not Ohio

My classroom ac in a Baton Rouge school has been out since last fall. I was thankful for the rain today. The thermometer in my room (brought it from home to document) only got up to 82 today.

The issue is bureaucracy. Ten years ago, EBR installed remote control devices to AC units. They are controlled by an out of state monitoring company. The control devices constantly break. AC either gets stuck fully open and a classroom is 60 degrees, or it gets stuck closed and you sweat all day. Maintenance company and AC won't touch them because it's not part of their contract, but they have to inspect it before the monitoring company is called. They report that the unit is reading fine (temp is right, vents are closed), so they refuse to fix it.

Didn't have A/C in school until I got to High School, didn't kill any of us.

These conditions were standard when I was in public school 22+ years ago. What am I missing?
