I thought he played better than last week. He handled various moves and his technique is improving. He will be a good player. Not Armstead, but who is.

He got beat at least once pretty badly on a pass rush move during the game. Run blocking was good from what I could tell.

Everyone gets beat occasionally. You didn’t hear his name, and even with Ian book back there who loves being sacked, he stayed pretty clean.

He had a few wow moments too. One on a delayed handoff out of the shotgun where he let the rusher beat him by a step to get just the right angle for a lateral run, then he engaged and absolutely obliterated the guy. There was another where he pancaked a d lineman so hard his soul left his body. He’s going to be a good one.

Definite improvement. He is a very good run blocker. However, he is still very inconsistent and shaky as a pass protector. Should get better with time.

Armstead was not an immediate superstar. It took him a 1/2 the regular season to start. Both guys are from smaller schools, and have similarities as well as differences. I think the Penning has the potential to be the best run blocking tackle in the league

Just saw a video of Penning mauling whoever #49 is for Green Bay to the ground on a run play

Or pancaking

How ever you want to phrase it

Its amazing the clutching of pearls from posters when it comes to Penning. The guy is going to be solid on the oline folks. I think a monster.

lets check a write up for the #1 OT taken shall we...

No. 6 overall pick Ickey Ekwonu has one of the brighter spotlights an O-lineman can have shining on him. Ekwonu struggled -- though so did the rest of the line. The Patriots posted sacks on back-to-back plays on the Panthers' second drive. The first was had by Wise, who lined up against Ekwonu and stunted inside. The next came from Josh Uche, whose outside speed rush left Ekwonu behind him searching for answers. As a positive foreshadowing, Ekwonu looked impressive and intimidating pulling on a run play and gobbling up a cornerback. However, on a similar play, he was blasted backward by safety Kyle Dugger. (LOL) Ekwonu is only 21 years old and he's most often going to be on an island at left tackle. There are no conclusions to be had for first-round rookies in the second game of the preseason. There will be growing pains for Ekwonu, and the hope is that Friday was an example of that rather than a foreshadowing of what lies ahead.

Penning improved from last week. Whether he balls out this year later in the season or next year, he's going to be a great T. Nothing wrong with a 1st round draft pick still needing to develop a little, Armstead only played rookie season, well now I can't remember, either due to injury or player sucking in front of him. And that was in the middle of the season.

Back in the day before internet, fans expected players to need time to develop, nothing has changed, just fans expectations have, which overall, is irrelevant.

Armstead didn't even start a game until week 14 of his rookie year he was so unprepared to take on the NFL. People need to stop acting like the Penning we see now is his final form and will never improve

Coach Paytomn had been calling "Charlie Brown" out for a while.

And finally said he "had enough."
Armstead started and the rest was history.
