Off to see roxy music w bryan ferry in a few weeks. Didn't realize they haven't toured in a long time. Looking fwd to seeing them and sad to see bands of my youth ageing out .... guess I'm old too

it's not you brother, the musicians and bands of our youth are getting up there in age.
Ferry is 77 yrs old and Roxy has been around since 1970 ~ half a century ... 52 years.
List of musicians who are basically the same age:
77 - Stephen Stills, Rod Stewart, Robin Trower, Eric Clapton, Richie Blackmore, Bob Seger,
Pete Townsend, John Fogerty, Debbie Harry, Kim Carnes, Ian Gillan, Van Morrison,
Jose Feliciano, Eric Stewart, Micky Dolenz
128 - Keith Richards ... this cat will outlive us all

Is Roxy just Bryan Ferry or are any members of the original band touring as well?
Posted on 8/18/22 at 3:43 pm to DeltaTigerDelta
current tour members Bryan Ferry, Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera and Paul Thompson
Simpson died in 2012 and Eno is still mad at the band after leaving in 1973

Lot's of 80's music started in the late 70's... Cars, Police, Blondie, Heads, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, ETC. But I think ROXY may have been first. "Love is the Drug" has a def 80's thing, but was dead MID 70's.

But will Bryan Ferry sing "Slave to Love" on this tour?

They are playing big venues this tour. There are PLENTY of tickets left to the American Airlines Center show here in Dallas. They are only selling seats in the lower 100 & middle(Platinum) 200 levels & when you look on Ticketmaster it might be 1/3 sold. This show does interest me so I might go.

I was so surprised to see them playing the United Center here... I would think the Chicago Theater, even if for two nights...

I consider ‘76’s siren the watershed album for 80’s new wave, especially’Both ends Burning’

I saw Ferry in ‘12 maybe?
It was ok, but I’m a much bigger fan of Roxy than Ferry’s solo work
I would love to see this show and hear
‘Mother of Pearl etc’

They were never very big in the US

They were popular in canada. Toronto had an independent radio station in 70s 80s cfny along w college radio that promoted punk/alternative so a fair amount of airplay

The rush song spirit of radio was about cfny. Check out spiritofradio.ca for good 70s and 80s music. It was my hs and college soundtrack

Well the show in Toronto was their tour opener... tickets were upgraded to floors, 6 rows from stage. Great time and phil manzanera can shred the guitar. Saxophonist was money too but he had some backup. Ferry was good but voice faded about 3/4 thru the show. Backup singers helped out. Ferry is not the crooner he used to be but hell he's 77. Good show, hit all the songs they should, crowd had a blast. Probably last tour for roxy

Interesting note is that Manzanera started out as a roady in the band before he became the full time guitarist.
