More important nominee be someone other than Trump--DeSantis possible road to nomination

Clearly Cheney intends to position herself as the voice of the never Trumpers and stated her goal is to keep Trump from the office of President. This means she is perfectly willing to organize a third party run for somebody to siphon enough votes from Trump if he is the republican nominee to elect a democrat President. Trump has never won the popular vote and even a half assed third party run would end any electoral college chances he would have.
DeSantis if he has the organizational team has a pretty good path to the nomination. Here is why.
Polling shows Hispanics are voting republican in strong numbers. DeSantis could take advantage of that to win FL, TX, AZ and CA primaries. After that it is uphill for Trump. In Florida DeSantis has the organization to win straight up. In Texas if he can muster the help of Mayra Flores and possibly Rick Perry he should win. In AZ he doesn't need much help to beat Trump but getting the Navajos on board and motivating the hispanics to vote for him would seal the deal. He would probably be the favorite in CA---his problem there will be having enough money to buy media in what is probably the highest cost media markets in the country.
Meanwhile I read today Trump is having a hard time convincing good law firms to represent him against Garland. It seems he is known to stiff law firms and will not take their advice. Garland needs to put up or shut up but he does "put up" something significant it will not be good for Trump.

DeSantis loses nothing aligning with Trump and gains everything. They can lose as a ticket in 24 and DeSantis can still win as the head of the ticket in 28.
If DeSantis alienates Trumps base he is unelectable if they stay home.
If DeSantis turns down a VP offer I think it speaks volumes as to which side he is on.
Nobody with a brain is challenging Trump in the Primary. I’m sick of hearing it. I want to bookmark all these threads if/when DeSantis cucks out like Bill Cassidy and all the others.
They are going to Indict Trump on some bullshite, and if DeSantis steps in to primary him and use that, it tells you all you need to know about if he is an establishment plant.
If DeSantis is on the up and up he will focus on Florida and keep his nose down until 28 under those circumstances.
Book it

Did you steal the script from CNN for today?

Liz Cheney is practically a zero threat. She would get less votes than Evan McMullin did in 2016. I wouldn't worry about her at all.
Now when she gets on MSNBC and CNN or the View she will bash Trump and his supporters and that will make news. But she is not getting any votes to make any kind of impact on the 2024 presidential race.

Because we're in a banana republic, now, and the DOJ targets Trump's lawyers and the entire attorney/client privilege of Trump.

Any conservative has plenty of issues to attack Trump. Trump is the man that listened to Lin Wood and Sidney Powell and Rudy Guillani. The man that put five time failed democrat Peter Navarro in the limelight. The man whose son in law became the partner of Goldman Sachs in a huge Caribbean business deal--some kind of payback. The man who threw money at people during COVID and blamed McConnell for not letting him throw more money. The man whose daddy got him out of the draft for Viet Nam who then criticized the service of POW McCain.
Anyone that doesn't admit those things is just living with some twisted, distorted view of what Trump really is.
The issues are there to attack Trump from the right.

If she can't see her voice on the J6 committee, even with all the slick marketing and production, has been widely ignored by the voting bloc she believes she is running for, than she is just as delusional and ignorant as the dems she heels to.

Ohh I don't think candidate Cheney can hurt much but fund raiser Cheney can build a war chest for a third party candidate.

Maybe, but you're fooling yourself if you believe Liz Cheney is the one capable of causing any damage. She has lost all credibility with true conservative voters, but you can always dream freshfromthefarm.

So? The POTUS isn’t selected by popular vote.
That’s like arguing whoever had the most first downs should win a football game after they were out scored. If the goal was to get more first downs, you would have obviously played the game differently to do so.

Why are we still talking about Liz?

You are fooling yourself if you think the Cheneys can't raise money and fund a third party candidate.

Because he has to win the electoral college and it would be MUCH easier for a third party candidate to screw him there than in the popular vote. A third party candidate would only have to campaign in a hand full of states to assure the dems carry those states in the electoral college.

That's only a viable scenario for those whose grasp of reality is so tenuous that they also believe in the Easter Bunny.
Liz Cheney became toxic last night because she wasn't beaten, she was fricking humiliated. Being beaten by 37.4 points is to be curb-stomped, politically.
She'll be the CNN and/or MSNBC darling for a while, may even drift over to FNC for a bit but her political career is effectively over in Wyoming. She might draw some Never-Trumpers if she tries to run for President, but my guess is her campaign will run out of steam before even reaching the convention (see: Kamala).
DeSantis is strong and stern, but he's not abrasive like Trump. Because of that I think Never-Trumpers will likely either sit out or move to DeSantis as their strong dislike for Trump is primarily his presentation (with other reasons flowing from that foundational dislike). Very few will rally behind Liz The Loser (I'm waiting for Trump to use that one).

He won it in 2020 , and got the most votes in the history of presidential elections . Gained 10 million more voters from 16-20, and was the ONLY president in the history of the country to gain votes in his reelection bid . No president ever running for reelection has ever done this

Both Trump and Desantis have proven themselves of being able to plop their balls on the table in the face of Democratic blowback. Both are fearless. Until someone else comes along that won't do a 180 after they get elected, I'll think I'll stay pat with either of these two.
